Publisher's summary

An excerpt from the book: "In the dimness of the early morning I could see field after neighborhood field as I let my gaze wander around me. First there was ours, I supposed I would always think of the farm as ours, Grandpa's, Uncle Charlie's, and mine, though in truth it really was just mine now. Guess that was one of the reasons I was whistling. Just yesterday Grandpa and Uncle Charlie had signed all the official papers to make the farm mine, really and legally mine. Joshua Chadwick Jones they read, clear as could be. The full impact had yet to hit me. But I was excited. Really excited. I mean, what other fella my age had a farm his own, title clear and paid for?"

"I sobered down a bit. It was a big responsibility. I mean, I was the one who had to make the farm bring forth now. Had to support Grandpa and Uncle Charlie and myself....And adding to the challenge was a desire for a family of my own..."

Great series

I love Jeanette Oke, she is a wonderful author. I read my first book at age 20, and am know 63, I still enjoy her stories and writing style.

Would have liked a different reader for Josh but overall is what good

I liked the overall story line, though at times very predictable. I enjoy stories of faith.

Sweet, as usual for Janette Oke!

I loved this series of 4 books. They are good Christian stories of family, love, & God’s goodness. The narrator is so good & doesn’t disappoint.

Great Ending to the Series

What a powerful ending to this series. Josh Jones is given the farm to continue the family tradition. Through this comes much responsibility to provide for his grandfather, uncle and his new wife and children. His faith, endurance, and grit is tested when the Great Depression and a three year drought hit.

Love Oke's stories

I am pleased with all of Oke's books, and enjoy the narrator - except for the occasional vocal fry.

Pleasant and easy read.

Relatable story. Hardship , faith and life struggles. Glad to listen to kind of story when oneself is having difficulty with her faith . Thank you.

Christian Historical Fiction

The story of Josh Jones continues into adulthood. During the times of the Great Dust Bowl, the moments of joy are almost forgotten by years of extreme poverty. Learn how this family of faith gain some powerful lessons as they love each other and God.
Both the story and the narration were moving! A beautiful story of hope for tomorrow!
