Publisher's summary

The debut of a brand-new, action-packed series from the number-one New York Times best-selling master of "pure entertainment" ( People).

Thousands of years ago, the Persian king Xerxes the Great was said to have raided the Treasury at Delphi, carrying away two solid gold pillars as tribute. In 1800 Napoleon Bonaparte and his army stumble across the pillars in the Pennine Alps. Unable to transport them, Napoleon creates a map on the labels of 12 bottles of rare wine. And when Napoleon dies, the bottles disappear....

Treasure hunters Sam and Remi Fargo are exploring the Great Pocomoke Swamp in Delaware when they are shocked to discover a World War II German U-boat. Inside, they find a bottle taken from Napoleon's "lost cellar". Fascinated, the Fargos set out to find the rest of the collection.

But another connoisseur of sorts has been looking for the bottle they've just found. He is Hadeon Bondaruk - a half- Russian, half-Persian millionaire. He claims to be a descendant of King Xerxes himself. And he wants his treasure back.

good story

Typical Clive Cussler, except I missed his cameo performance that he always made with Dirk as main character. I wasn't overly thrilled with the narrator but he got into the story every so often and made it come alive.

Clive does it again.

Absolutely fantastic! Clive has a way of melding adventure, mystery, love and wonderful characters into his stories that have not been equaled. I cannot put his books down.

A very suitable traveling companion

My wife and I have traveled many miles with Sam and Remi. We enjoy the storylines uncluttered by sex.

This Review Needs A Title

First book in new Cussler series. Sam and Remi Fargo are apparently capable of anything! Builds on Cussler's love of treasure hunting and I guess Sam is a reflection of what Cussler wants to be. He certainly has Indiana Jones characteristics. The plot is fast moving--a page tuner. But, turn off the brain and don't expect much reality. Entertaining. Would make a good TV serial.

The Fargos to the rescue!

Clive Cussler (et al ) and Scott Brick have teamed up to bring to life the wild and wacky adventures of the Fargo's. OK OK there is alot of stretching going on here, but if you are into world trotting adventures and twisting plots, this is for you. Brick does a fine job here. Always fun to bring Napoleon into the picture. Recommended.

A Fantastical Journey through Napoleonic History

This starts a bit slow and takes it's time in developing. As the story progressess the story picks up and becomes much more interesting.

Great start to a new series

This book was a refreshing step away from NUMA. I love all of Clive's characters but I am enjoying the non-ocean related series. As usual, Scott Brick did an outstanding job with the narration. I hope Clive sticks with him or all of his books.
