Publisher's Summary

Reece stood and faced the group. "Every now and then we get a break from reality. A glimpse into the other world that is more real than the reality we live in 99 percent of our days. The Bible is about a world of demons and angels and great evil and even greater glory. A world the prophets saw; the world Enoch and Elijah and Paul and John the apostle all saw. A world that is all around us in every moment if we would have eyes to see and ears to hear."

What if you could travel inside another person’s soul? To battle for them. To be part of Jesus healing their deepest wounds.Thirty years ago that’s exactly what Reece Roth did. Until tragedy shattered his life and ripped away his destiny.

They gather at a secluded and mysterious ranch deep in the mountains of Colorado, where they will learn to see the spiritual world around them with stunning clarity. And how to step into the supernatural as powerfully as anyone in the Bible did.

The four have a destiny to battle for a freedom even Reece doesn’t fully fathom. But they have an enemy hell-bent on destroying them as and he'll stop at nothing to keep them from their quest for true freedom and the coming battle of souls.

"Not for me, but I loved his other books"

I anxiously awaited the release of this book. I've listened to all of Mr. Rubart's other books, with Rooms being my favorite. I love hearing Mr. Rubart narrate his own books. I think he does a great job!

I was disappointed in this book. It is about spiritual warfare, but it goes to a level that is beyond my comfort zone or doctrinal beliefs. Mr. Rubart did try to use scripture throughout the book to back up the plot, but it didn't work for me because I felt that they were taken out of context. After listening to the author's note at the end of the book, I understand why he did things as he did in his book. He made some valid points about how numbed or blinded we are in today's society towards the spiritual stuff going on around us. I just didn't like how he chose to manifest that awareness in this book. His characters travel into people's souls. Now, they were there to do good, but I felt that what they were doing was part of the Holy Spirit's job.

I would suspect that if you are a person who liked "The Shack" you will probably like this book. I hated "The Shack" so much that I refused to finish it. I won't be listening to any more books in this series. The topic presented as it was just doesn't interest me.

Where does Soul's Gate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

this is the first audio book in which the narrator is the author and is really good. He could be one of the best narrators around if he ever gave up his writing but unless he gets board with it I don't see that happening for his writing rates up there with the writer of left behind and blessed child. this is a keeper and one I will buy hard copies for my adult children to read to there children

Who was your favorite character and why?

the holy spirit of course but human I would have to say doug

Have you listened to any of James Rubart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no but I plan to listen to all 6 audio books

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

cant get enough wish there were more than 3 in this series

A follower of Jesus. An avid fan of historical religion (fiction or non). I am still a lover of Stephen King because of his writing.

    "Exciting and Thought-Provoking Book"
What made the experience of listening to Soul's Gate the most enjoyable?

Who else, but James Rubart, could imagine such a story. It takes a great mind (and a greater imagination) to tell a story with such a spectacular plot. To transport into another persons soul is the utmost in spiritual clarity.

What does James Rubart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The intensity of the characters is actually felt while listening to this book. I do not think I would have felt that by reading this book. There were many times I felt that I was actually in the story while listening to the narrator.

    "Hire a narrator!"
What would have made Soul's Gate better?

    A different narrator

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting was presenting the reality of spiritual warfare.
The least interesting was presenting it as a necessity of entering another person's soul.

Would you be willing to try another one of James Rubart’s performances?

    No!
I would try another of his books if another narrator performed it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Soul's Gate?

    None specifically.

    Any additional comments?

I think this would have been better if I had read, rather than listened to, the book. I believe the author tried to wear too many hats in reading it himself. The story was possibly better than I think it was, but in my opinion, was flawed by the performance.
