Publisher's Summary

Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth's dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

God only knows what it all means. And fortunately, He left behind a Final Message of explanation. But since it's light-years away from Earth, on a star surrounded by souvenir booths, finding out what it is will mean hitching a ride to the far reaches of space aboard a UFO with a giant robot. But what else is new?

Don't miss more from this exciting series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

"Missing Adams' classic narration, but still great."

I grew up with the audiocassettes of the entire Hitchhiker's series, and loved Doug Adams narration. The story on this one is still one of my favorites of the series, but i do kind of miss the voice delivering the lines that i somehow still know by heart.

    "Hitchhiker is just plain fun"

Hitchhiker is just plain fun. I loved the series when i was young. I read it in college, and again in Med school, and again when i started reading for pleasure again, and now I am going to listen to them all.
I cannot wait. I just wish Douglas was alive for more, but I am about to read Coffer's installment (or try) for a 6th book in the series.

"Some laughs, but the others are better"

Good narration by the amazing Martin Freeman. The story however does not manage to get me laughing like the previous books of Mr Adams. Still looking forward to the last book in the series.

"A great book ruined by the reader"

Seriously, skip this version of this great book, the reader is just awful, he somehow manages to make Douglas Adams' story dull and boring and only brings a bit of humor when her goes over bored with the childish/cartoon like voices he does for some of the alien characters. The voice he uses for Agrajag is similar to the voice of the guy who flies Stan and Kyle to imaginationland from South Park.

I gave this two stars only because I can't give Douglas Adams one star.

In addition to the talented writing of Douglas Adams, I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Martin Freeman. A marvelous combination!
