Jennifer Kincaid, on her way to a writer's workshop in the Colorado mountain town of Lake City, gets lost and is stranded by an avalanche.
Catherine Ryan-Barrett, running from the fame and fortune of her family name, wants nothing more to spend the winter alone and sequestered in her high mountain cabin. She is not prepared for a party crasher.
After spending two months together, they form an unlikely friendship that deepens even further. But after the spring thaw, Jen leaves and returns to her life in Santa Fe and to the man who wants to marry her. All she knows of the woman who rescued her is her name... Ryan.

Girl re-awakes Girl.
Vaguely, this book reminds me of Facades by Alex Marcoux, in that two women are brought together with no idea that later they will develop an attraction for each other.
Even though I'm probably more like Ryan, I enjoyed Jen in this audiobook.
Who else but Jen?
This audiobook was a smooth progression into a romance between two unlikely characters. It was nothing in it that hit you over the head with drama. Instead, the budding romance between the two main characters sneaked up on you, and had you pulling for them to get together. There is character development, which I love, over smack you in the face drama at every turn. Even though, there are some spots of drama in it, it is just a nice read that will have you smiling at the end of the book.
I read this long before it came out on this website and I loved it in print, but enjoyed it so much more as an audio book.
THis book isn't really comparable to other books unless you know other Gerri Hill books. I love all her books and hope they show up on this site.
I think the scene when she is found on the side of the road and has to rescued is the best. The main character stays outside of society for a reason and this woman messes up all her plans.
The main character is perfect.
I would like to see more books along this kind of storyline.
Great audio version ... Will read it more often this way too.
The friends... The best ones in life do do stuff like that for you !!
Can't decide as Sara was able to express each character with personality really well.
It made me reminisce to earlier loves and the emotions of discovery.
It's only the first time I've read this book... and I'm looking forward to reading it a few more times too !
Congrats Gerri Hill well done and thanks :-)
I loved this. I loved this so much. As a young queer woman it is always a joy to find a story that captures the tension, excitement, and tenderness of love between two women without resorting to voyeurism. The reader brought both characters into life with her skilled narration, and I was absorbed the whole time. The story also was effective in its divergence from the formulaic love story. While it was predictable on the whole, the plot twists within the narrative kept the element of surprise alive. I recommend this story to anyone and everyone (but especially to those in the queer community). Bravo.
Say something about yourself!
Entertaining, sexy, funny
The first time, well the only time in the story that Ryan and Jen made love. I thought that it was handled very well.
Lost and Found
A very good story with some endearing characters. Ryan and Jen was super and the supporting cast was equally entertaining. Jen's first time with a woman was both sexy and funny. Highly recommended.
Yes, I loved the story, the gentleness and the sincerity.
I really enjoyed it a lot.
Finally, a love story written about two women falling in love that does not brush past the intimate moments! Great story and characters.
"Story much as expected, quality of recording bad"
The story was as expected, no surprises but a good lighthearted listen to pass the time. However, the recording was of poor quality engineering wise. Posted more on that below.
As a person who comes from and live in a rural area, I enjoyed the descriptions of the scenery, although pretty different from where I live I could relate to a lot of what was said.
Hard to tell, seemed okay overall.
Not really, not that type of book.
With regard to the narrator, it was hard to tell how good she was overall because frankly the recording sucked. It was tinny pretty much the whole way through, and there were sound echos at times. It didn't seem like it was a poor download, just a poor recording engineering wise. If that could be improved then the whole audio book would benefit. For that reason I'm glad it was one that wasn't too expensive to buy, so it wasn't too bad value for money. However, I can imagine it could put a lot of people off and that would be a shame for both author and narrator.
This book is mostly about unexpected lesbian lovers, including some rather explicit parts. This should be noted, since this is not in the description. There is minimal plot, but some heavy bedroom scenes.
