Mercenary Captain Torin Covell needs a man who knows his way around a cockpit. Ace pilot Rain needs to get the hell off-planet. Thrown together by chance, the two men form a wary partnership.
Torin has every intention of dumping Rain at the next moon, despite his intense attraction to the hotshot. In his line of work he can't afford to trust anyone, especially someone as infuriatingly charming and naive as Rain. But first, he's got a mission to complete.
What Rain wants, Rain gets. And what he wants is Torin, any way he can get him. The gorgeous captain isn't making it easy, and the two are quickly embroiled in an erotic battle for supremacy. But when Rain discovers that he's not the only one in pursuit of Torin, he demands to know exactly what sort of "job" he's signed on for....

I've been having a very hard time recently getting through an entire audiobook. Still, I've been devouring e-books from my favorite authors. This leads me to believe that my dissatisfaction is down to the narrators (and yes, a lot is also down to the books and the authors). I bought this book on merit of Jack Lefleur alone. I've never heard of the author, Fae Sutherland (which is likely my own folly and nothing to do with her talent) but I've been wasting so many credits buying books and losing interest that I got desperate. I knew Jack Lefleur as the narrator would not let me down (the synopsis of the book sounded like something he would excel at reading).
Somebody needs to figure out how to bottle this man's voice. It's one of the sexiest things I've ever heard and the more he reads is the more you lose yourself in the words he's weaving around you. Every book he reads is a performance. Each character is given their own distinct voice. Each action pulls you in. It's not hard to imagine that you're sitting in that cockpit with Rain or stalking around the ship with Torin. Once he starts going, you really just have to drop everything, close your eyes, and let his words infuse you.
This book is sexy. There is no other word for it. If I've listened to it slowly it's because I've been savoring it. This is why we listen to gay romance as audiobooks. A sizzlingly hot story with a great plot. Throw in some off-planet action, hidden pasts, and running from the law and you're left with a story that has great characters and lovely world building. I wouldn't say it's the best story I've 'read' but it's definitely better than so many others. Rain and Torin burn the pages the second they are in a room together. Hot, sexy tension and scorching hot sex. And it helps that the plot is solid and believable.
If you have a lazy weekend or could do with a lie-in, download this book and listen. Definitely worth the credit!
Nice story…plenty of sex…and I swear I hear Jack Leflure (the narrator) with his husky, beautiful voice in my nighttime fantasies...if he's reading, I'm buying!
Now this audio was just fun. It is a sparing match from the beginning. The attraction is mutual but is it a good time to explore it. Torin and Rain are both very strong personalities and they both are use to getting their own way. They argue, they fight, they get sexed up.
You should listen to see what it takes to earn each others trust.
Our narrator Jack Lefleur has been known to bring listeners in just because he's doing the voices. It's sooo true, he rocks.
Can audio be better than the written word? That is hard to tell. The imagination is always better when one reads the printed word. However, when one factors in one's personal time constraints and the ability to multitask, audio books have the advantage. Without audio books, I would never learn of new and interesting writers and books... you decide which is best. I find them both equally beneficial.
The adventure, the passion, the masculine (Manley men that don't mind getting dirty and fighting their way out of a hard spot) men... it was all memorable. Coming from an era when such things were never spoken of or better described as being taboo, it is refreshing, even stimulating to hear the stories that I could only dream of as a boy... Sky Riders, et all, are right out of my childhood fantasies, stories I used to write in my diary, an attempt to exercise the demons of my heart, how was it that Ms. Sutherland read my mind, my soul? I feel, so much younger than my fifty years, after listening to these stories.
Jack made me forget that the story was written by a woman, not that there is anything wrong with that, Ms. Sutherland, all I can say is you have some big ones, well done. Jack, has a wonderful flair for drama and brought the books to life, well done.
Firefly/Serenity meets Queer as Folk... Star Wars in the boudoir… What we always knew was going on between Cptn. Kirk and Spok... - i don't think mainstream America is ready for a film based on these books, not without the usual heterosexual rewrite...
Ms. Sutherland you should call me, your descriptions of male on male intimacy needs some fine tuning... real men don't always reach for the lube in the heat of passion, and you seem to be unusually focused on the tube of lube as it were. Fae have you ever been with a man, a man that really turns you on? Then you should understand what I mean... The book, neigh the series was extremely entertaining, engaging and fun. I look forward to the next episode with hardend anticipation. I hope, no pray for a day when a movie can be made from stories like these. Preferably, without mangling the stories interpersonal dynamics with the heterosexual adjenda… You have a new fan Ms. Sutherland; well done, very well done! Highly recommended to both men and boys, fifteen and up.
Once again, another book bought specifically for who was narrating...and once again...another very enjoyable story and narration!
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I have to be engaged into a story in like chapter one to keep me interested... and this kind of did, but it just didn't hold my interest. After like chapter 3 the story started to drag a bit. I like Fae Sutherland books, book this was not her best... I will try to re-listen...but for now.. this is not a Wow factor for me.
Not a credit or buy... maybe a sale... a really good one.
