Publisher's summary

Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded malls, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That's just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they'll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on Hemlock Street without a rooftop Frosty; they won't be hosting the annual Christmas Eve bash; they aren't even going to have a tree. They won't need one, because come December 25 they're setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But, as this couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences - and isn't half as easy as they'd imagined.

A classic tale for modern times, Skipping Christmas offers a hilarious look at the charm and frenzy that have become part of our holiday tradition.

Featured Article: Christmas with the Kranks—Book vs. Movie

John Grisham may be best known for his legal thrillers, but he's also been known to deviate from form every now and then and write something completely different. Skipping Christmas is one such book. It was adapted into a 2004 film called Christmas with the Kranks, starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, which gained the story an even wider audience. If you're familiar with the film but don’t know much about its literary inspiration, read on.

Funny and Enjoyable

Predictable or not, this book was great. Highly recommended if you're having trouble getting in the holiday spirit, or sick of the holidays all together.

Pass on Christmas?

This something that most of us thinks about but would never have the nerve to do. The book and movie are slightly different. Love the book better.

Perfect Narration

This is one of the more relatable Christmas stories out there in my opinion. Short and to the point. A cynical point of view from the main character makes this an offbeat yet entertaining and relatable story for anyone who gets overwhelmed by this particular time of year. I do enjoy that the story never completely does away with the special parts of the season either. Love the Luther character and the narration was absolutely perfect.

Perfect for the holidays

Cute and amusing story with an excellent point. Well read by the narrator. Just the right length for a quick Holiday listen.

An entertaining Christmas story

A very good narration. Plenty of humor and a great story about the bonds between friends and neighbors. I've listened to it twice.

This is definately not a standard Grisham book but it is the funniest book I have ever read. I recommend this book to everyone of any age.
