A rough California gold camp seems an unlikely place for two lonely people, running from their pasts, to meet. But Sam Ransom watches as the lovely Zenobia Gray takes a ladle to a roughhousing miner, delivers a baby, and comforts a bereaved man...and he decides that, while she might be a bit prudish, she's worth getting to know.
When Zenobia first sets eyes on Sam, though, she's sure a man this handsome is too dangerous for her broken heart. They're both right. And they're both wrong. They're going to discover more in each other than they bargained for, along with something else - enduring love.

Baby of the 60's, Mother to 4 grown children and 2 little grand-daughters! Starting reading romance novels while babysitting in the 70's.
Wasted time spent as the narrator reads it like a newspaper clipping or article and his female voices were horrible. Does he know what a period.........means?
Talk about run, run, run on sentences. Hard to listen to Jim Hull narration and his run on voice without any feeling or emotion for the characters in the book.
This is my first review and my first returned book!
This suited me to a tee! I love the history of early America and this covered the Gold Rush with a simple, wee romance thrown in, I couldn't have asked for anything more.
