Publisher's summary

The thrilling new Virgil Flowers novel from the #1 New York Times best-selling author.

The superstore chain PyeMart has its sights set on a Minnesota river town, but two very angry groups want to stop it: local merchants, fearing for their businesses, and environmentalists, predicting ecological disaster. The protests don't seem to be slowing the project, though, until someone decides to take matters into his own hands.

The first bomb goes off on the top floor of PyeMart's headquarters. The second one explodes at the construction site itself. The blasts are meant to inflict maximum damage-and they do. Who's behind the bombs, and how far will they go? It's Virgil Flowers's job to find out... before more people get killed.

“[Sandford]’s a thorough professional who knows exactly what he’s doing. Whether you’re new to Sandford or not, whether you’ve ever read a Virgil Flowers novel or not, once you start Shock Wave, you’ll read it straight through, quickly, compulsively, happy the whole time to be in such good hands.” (The Washington Post)

“Wry humor, a fully realized lead, and tense atmospherics...Sandford effortlessly conjures up the rhythms and personalities of a small town in one of his best outings to date.” (Publishers Weekly)

“If Shock Wave is any indication, Flowers has a better than even chance of equaling if not surpassing Davenport in the hearts and minds of Sandford’s legion of readers.” (Bookreporter)

Good Virgil Flowers novel.

Plenty of excitement. Plenty of interest to keep you listening. Had me guessing until the end. I have just recently discovered Virgil Flowers, and he seems to be an "aw shucks" type of hero. I enjoy heroes who are usually right, and this one is.

Interesting

I finished the book in less than a week. I love how "interesting" the cases Virgil takes on tend to be.

Call the Bomb Squad...you are in the story

Would you consider the audio edition of Shock Wave to be better than the print version?

No, Some of the details are explosive when it is left to the mind. This is not to say it is not a GREAT way to feel the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shock Wave?

When Virgil figures out the true bombers motive.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not one moment but several. After the bombing events you could almost feel the tension for solving the identity of the bomber.

Love Eric Conger

Eric Conger brings Virgil to life for me. I love John Sandford and audible is a great vehicle for reading his novels. Ferrone and Conger are obviously fans of the novels because they more than just read words from a page, they breathe life to the characters.

Shockwave is a lot of fun!

Shockwave kept my attention throughout. At times my mind can wander as I travel the roads. Not while listening to Shockwave. I would find myself driving the long way home to finish a chapter.

Classic Virgil Flowers!

Small-town-where-bad-thing-happens drama, with colorful characters and people showing their true colors when the chips are down. If you happen to live in one, you could see this happening... Love that $#^**^-ing Flowers!
