Publisher's summary

For Lorelei Warner, being perfect isn't everything it's cracked up to be. She did what her straitlaced parents wanted: Became a lawyer, married her college boyfriend. But since her husband ran off with another man and her career became a nonstop bore-fest, Lorelei has turned to her best friends and Fool Me Once Investigations to find fulfillment and adventure.

When a routine subpoena delivery turns up a dead body, Lorelei knows that solving the murder is exactly what she needs to boost her confidence - until private investigator Dallas Osborne walks in and takes over the case. Dallas has always rubbed Lorelei the wrong way. It's aggravating enough that he's a pompous ass, but he's also entirely too good-looking.

If she wants to catch the killer, Lorelei will need to loosen up and defy her parents - not to mention the law. And she'll need to partner with Dallas, working closer (much closer) to the sexy investigator than she ever expected.

Join the feisty Fool Me Once ladies for another fun-loving romp from bestselling author Tara Sivec.

Oh boy

In the opening scene we have a lawyer answering their cell phone in court; while trying a case in court; nuff said.

Paler version of book 1

Lorelei and Dallas’ HEA
This novella gives the last lady in the Fool Me Once detective agency her HEA. It follows a lot of the same themes as book 1, but with less success. You know how there’s a fine line between laughing with someone or at them? This felt like the latter, with the humor being more mean spirited and biting.

Also, I like it when my enemies-to-lovers gals have it together. I expected a leading lady who is a lawyer to be smarter and tougher, but other than her strong cussing, Lorelei ends up with the usual “saved by her alpha man” HEA. The family was mean and there’s a lot of strident arguing (where Lorelei takes crap without fighting back),

This book was still pretty good, especially as a short and cheap listen. It’s also loads better than book 2. But, I think book 1 is the only one I’ll re-listen to.

fun series, but...

All three stories the leads make some potentially deadly mistake, only to be rescued. I would have liked them to be each a little stronger and smarter. I don't think that would have taken away from the lusty parts at all.

Sending wrong messages to women

All three books in the series start out with the man being controlling, angry, moody or depressed, disparaging of the woman, and with no control over his libido. The women are attracted to abusive men, and can’t control their libido either. I like a good sex scene as much as anyone, but when Lorelie said, “I’m on the pill. Fuck the condom.“ I was apalled at the message that sent. She had just divorced a man who was gay, and having a gay affair while they were married. I don’t think you should be sending the message that safe sex isn’t important in her situation.

These books buy in to the fiction that a woman can meet a controlling, abusive man and change him into a loving teddy bear with great sex.

Dee

Narration is off on male voices. All the males sound similar. It makes it difficult to take some of the story line seriously.

Gives new meaning to "bodice ripper"I

Superficial and trite. Are there really girls like this? who talk like this? Who like stories like this? Moronic plot and lots of heavy breathing.

Awful read. Don't waste your time..

Best So Far

This is just plain funny and cute. I think it is the best one so far of the series. I will be looking forward to anything else by this particular author. She has a keen since of humor that just seems to touch my funny bone. I laughed out loud when listening to all three of these book's. And truly hope everyone gets the same amount of enjoyment from them. The narrator Amy McFadden is perfect for this book. I have to admire her for being able to read this one without giggling out loud.
