Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best-selling sequel to A Discovery of Witches, book two of the All Souls Series. Look for the hit TV series A Discovery of Witches, streaming on AMC Plus, Sundance Now, and Shudder. Season Two premieres January 9, 2021!

Picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night takes reluctant witch Diana Bishop and vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont on a trip through time to Elizabethan London, where they are plunged into a world of spies, magic, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the School of Night. As the search for Ashmole 782—the lost and enchanted manuscript whose mystery first pulled Diana and Matthew into one another's orbit—deepens and Diana seeks out a witch to tutor her in magic, the net of Matthew's past tightens around them. Together they find they must embark on a very different—and vastly more dangerous—journey.

Nice continuation, slow pace in story

I am really enjoying this series. The beginning of this story was hard for me to push through but I’m glad I did. It was worth the lull in story for the ultimate development of the heroine.

Engaging story

The story is wonderful, the characters fully fleshed out, and the talented narrator brings it to like.
One of the best narrators I've heard so far!

It's not over yet!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

You need to read the first book "Discovery of Witches", then you will understand the second, which has references to the first book and a lot of historical references, albeit with some literary license. Book two is Ok and sets you up for Book 3

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shadow of Night?

Don't have one

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Don't think so

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NO

Any additional comments?

I hope it doesn't keep going and going and going,,,, I will eventually loose interest

Even better than the first

I liked this book even better than the first. The characters really come into their own! Matthew and Diana's relationship grows into a deeper, richer, more enduring kind of love, but evolves naturally. Excellent book, by itself, but it really cements the series into my heart.

So worth the wait!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes

Any additional comments?

As soon as I finished A Discovery of Witches, I immediately went online to find out when I should expect the sequel. It was a long wait, but completely worth it. Harkness' view of Elizabethan London and Europe is just awesome, and the trip to Prague was an added bonus that I had not expected. Not only did the plot line get more compelling, but Harkness was also able to weave in the difficulties of the newly wed. I savored every minute of this novel.

WONDERFUL

I enjoyed everything about this book! The story was captivating, the narrator's voice mesmerizing. I have read all three books more than once.
I am also enjoying the series on TV!

Excellent story and narrator

This narrator really brought the story to life with different voices and accents. I liked the first book better but this one was still very, very good.
