The first book, Witness, was a good story line that kept me listening even though I was not pleased with the narrator
Not with the same narrator - I have decided to not listen to the rest after making it only a few chapters into the second book.
Yes, I liked the first book for it's story line - I wanted to be able to listen to the other 3 but could not get into the second book. It was not good enough to endure the narrator.
I am disappointed
I enjoyed this set of books and thought the narration was excellent. I do not usually buy novels but usually buy audio books on Christianity and Christian history and was surprised how much this set of books impacted my perspective of Christian faith and the trials that many people in the first century faced. The books also gave good illustrations of how Christians are to interact and treat other people who are going through trials. This set of books really increased my interest in Christian novels and I had a hard time turning off my phone as I listened to the books on bluetooth.
I really believe that although the set of books are a novel, they really bring out what Christians believe and how they God works through their lives.
Great narration, she made the book come alive. As stated before, I rarely buy novels and the narrator along with a good set of books really changed my outlook on novels.
The set of books did bring out empathy when I felt what some of the characters went through as they found answers in Jesus Christ and the Christian fellowship.
It was very hard to shut down the program at bedtime. This is one of the best examples of Biblical Historical Fiction that I have read (or rather listened to) in a long time. I highly recommend this outstanding set of books!!!
This series was given to me as a gift and once I started listening to it I could not stop. I have repeatedly found myself arrived at my destination and not wanting to get out of my vehicle & stop the audio. The narration by Ruth Elsbree was excellent and held my attention, even during my frequent 10 hour long drives. The many characters were well voice separated, making the story easy to follow or pick back up. The story made me laugh cry think and give me knowledge about the beginning of Christianity that I never would have otherwise taken the time to learn.
The Seeds of Christianity books were absolutely wonderful historical fiction! What a realistic trip throughout Bethlehem, Jerusalem and beyond, we traveled with Rivkah and her family. It was fascinating to see how E. Lewis intertwined her life with that of Jesus, Mary, other Biblical characters and various apostles.
Ruth Elsbree did a phenomenal job narrating these books! She brought all the characters to life in such realistic ways. Her voice became like a dear, soothing friend. Wonderful!
I turned this book off so many times because of the terrible reading. The only way I could listen to it was at 1.25x speed. For a book this long, hire a professional narrator. Also try using contractions. "Can not" or "Do not" sound more natural as "can't" and "don't"
Not if you paid me!
I prefer not to have to hear about someone "pleasuring" themselves in Christian fiction.
the performance was by far the worst. I struggled with this set, but finished bc the content was good. I am protestant and picked up on the Catholic undertones.
