Publisher's summary

With nothing but the clothes on his back - and something horrific snapping at his heels - Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever.

Now, years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead.

Surviving a violent car crash seems like a miracle for Jack’s family, but Jack knows there’s nothing divine about it. The profound evil he uncovered as a boy has finally found him again. The thing that crouched at his bedside with soulless eyes and grinning, razor-sharp teeth is back with plans for Jack and his angelic youngest daughter, and a chilling promise: I’ve always been here, and I’ll never leave.

too much hype

I enjoyed this book. however, it didn't live up to the hype around it. I think it set my expectations too high.

Sinister

Wow. The writing was so well done. It demanded my attention from start to finish. Character progression flowed well and seamlessly. I feel like so much happened in such a short amount of time. I remember looking and seeing there was only 30 minutes left in the book and felt despair because I wanted more.

Poor Aimee. Her daughter is acting strangely. Her once angelic preschooler is now throwing tantrums and is conniving and manipulative. What’s going on with Charlie and why is she smirking when bad things happen?

Ugh this book kept me UP at night! Very “Sinister” vibes.

Very captivating!!

I would try to listen at night right before bed but I had to stop
because of how spooky it was. Its a really good book and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice scary story.

seed

it captured me my attention pretty early and I enjoyed the story until the end. I was not a fan of the ending. it lost me with the dog and I struggled to finish it.

A slow burn with a chilling final act

Seed excel when it comes to its atmosphere. Its like watching a car crash happen in slow motion. The ends feels inevitable. The characters race towards it with no hope of coming out clean in the end. The first act does move slow. Once it gets going, though, this story doesn't stop.

Unique story with a great plotline

The story was really compelling any story where our children have any sort of evil to make me feel uncomfortable. It was a nonstop listen. I listened to this book in two days. I had seen it on Netflix, but had not watched it yet. I wanted to read the book 1st.
It was a quick listen, but it was compelling as any book is that has children who have that creepy quality something very unsettling about it.
I wish I knew a little bit more about Mr. scratch and where he came from. I think that would be a great follow up book.
