What the Critics Say

"This book is unlike any other and brings out the dark side of Anthony Horowitz's writing mind." (The Guardian)

"This is one of the best Alex Rider books. You don't really notice how good it is until you finish and you take in all that happened." (BBC)

    Story
"Not sure this was the ending Rider deserved..."
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I like the returning villain but the newly introduced did not feel that threatening somehow.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It didn't feel all that satisfying, the natural climax of the story seemed to centre around the doppelgangers in the rain and everything after felt a little lacklustre.

What about Dan Stevens’s performance did you like?

Excellent diction and clearly differentiated character voices.

Did Scorpia Rising inspire you to do anything?

Not particularly, it's not a life changing read, it's a competent spy thriller.

    Any additional comments?

The Alex Rider is a good choice for fans of the spy/action genre and is great for enticing young reluctant readers. This addition to the series has darker plot points, so perhaps is best suited to children over the age of 15.

    "A disappointing end"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

This final book seems very downbeat

If you’ve listened to books by Anthony Horowitz before, how does this one compare?

It's been a while since I last listened to an Alex Rider book, and I know I'm not target audience, but this story was lacking in fun.

Have you listened to any of Dan Stevens’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Dan Stevens is a perfectly fine narrator, I'm guessing he's not as available these days !

Could you see Scorpia Rising being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

No time soon, judging by the performance of storm breaker

    "A Book To Far...."

One Depressing book that could have been so much more. Has a fan of the Alex Rider Books found this one to be one book to far. Really do wish I had not listened this book.
