    "Every single character was annoying"
    Any additional comments?

I am normally a big fan of Mary Kay Andrews and enjoy her characters. But the protagonist is whiny, reactionary and childish. The love interest is, quite frankly kind of a jerk. And how many bad things can happen to one person? My only other comment is a suggestion to Ms. Andrews to retire the word "remember?" from her dialog between characters. It is completely overused in every single book she writes. I'm thinking she believes it adds a certain amount of authenticity to the dialog but it's more like a verbal tic all of her characters have.

    Story
    "Blah"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

A lot. It's entirely too long, not really going anywhere. I haven't finished it yet, and am unlikely to do so, even though there are only three hours left. Three long, long hours.

What was most disappointing about Mary Kay Andrews’s story?

There were quite a few things. Cara tilts quite far toward irrationality. She's whiny and cynical and wonders why she has few friends. I wonder why the male lead is interested in her. Then there's the scene with her dog. Yeah, her assistant was wrong to do what she did, but when you take a job as a florist's assistant, that doesn't include dog-sitting, especially when the assistant makes it very clear they're not a fan of dogs. At all. Cara's reaction to that situation is what put me over the edge on this one.

What about Kathleen McInerney’s performance did you like?

She always does an amazing job. I love the way she voices the characters and her narration is always a pleasure to listen to.

Was Save the Date worth the listening time?

Nope. That's why I'm about to return it. Waste of a credit.

    Any additional comments?

It's really too bad that this is so hard to get through. I had been looking forward to this one.

    "Not her best"

The story was more about floral arrangements then developing a relationship. Characters were thinly outlined, but the flowers were detailed.

    Not the best.

Narration was excellent a portrait of each This was a good book especially if you are into flower names. I enjoyed it as a happy listen, which I walk and cook to. My regrets are all at the end. How and Why and ? too quickly.

    "Best ever!"
Where does Save the Date rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Aside from loving Mary Kay Andrews' books as well as the narrator's work in previous books, this was my favorite. I couldn't stop listening. The characters became familiar in an instant, the story didn't seem hokey, and I couldn't predict any of the twists and turns.

What other book might you compare Save the Date to and why?

I love the books set in the South. The old families and their gossiping and inside stories make for more intrigue.

What about Kathleen McInerney’s performance did you like?

Just the intricacies of the architectural styles of the homes and the little -isms common in that part of the world made everything authentic. Also, I certainly knew nothing about Cumberland Island. I found so much of it interesting and all completely factual and a place I'd like to visit.

    "Delightful!!"

This was one of those books where once started, not much got accomplished that couldn’t be done while listening. I just couldn’t put it down. Needless to say – the laundry is caught up since this is a blissful thirteen hours of listening pleasure.

Mary Kay Andrews just never disappoints. She always gives her readers the ability to quickly become fully immersed into a story. In order to do that, she has to draw a vague picture of where she is going pretty early on. I like that. Others call it being predictable, I call it cutting to the chase. Save the Date is certainly no different. Cara, a florist in Savannah, Georgia has a new business, a new dog and a great deal on her plate Who just doesn't love weddings and the miles of drama that they bring. It’s interesting that the main love interests in this adventure are the least colorful of the character but, with so much colorful southern “charm”, someone needs to be just a little neutral. I don’t see how I could have enjoyed it any more than I did. Great way to start off the summer!!

I greatly enjoyed the cameo appearances!!!

    "Simultaneously predictable and unbelievable"
Would you try another book from Mary Kay Andrews and/or Kathleen McInerney?

The performance was fine, the story was lacking.

Would you ever listen to anything by Mary Kay Andrews again?

    Probably not.

How could the performance have been better?

    The performance was fine

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment

    Any additional comments?

The overall story was completely predictable. The dialogue and reactions of the characters were completely implausible (Who talks like that? Who acts like that? Has the author ever met a real dog?). I guess if you're obsessed with weddings it might be a fun read. Otherwise, you'll find it a waste of time.

    "Okay..."

The storyline was rather predictable, and that's okay because you know what type of book this is and expect a typical romance plot. The writing seemed somewhat amateur-ish though. This could have been the way the narrator was reading the novel, but there were several times when I felt that I was listening to a young adult novel. This book was overall an average read, but I don't think I'll be listening to more from this author.
