When Sarah realizes that she has fallen in love with an English doctor, she must choose between loving a man and losing her family.
Deep in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Mountains, shy Sarah King is happiest when working in her vibrant Amish kitchen garden, but new family responsibilities lead her into the confusing world of the English.
Sarah finds her life turned around when she encounters the community’s new English veterinarian, Grant Williams. His blue-gold eyes and his obvious concern for her people attract her immediately. Sarah seeks solace and direction from the Lord as she creates a quilt pattern which details her struggle between two worlds.
The Lord is guiding Sarah to follow His will, but will she listen?

Review of Kelly’s Long Sarah’s Garden
This was a beautiful story, well-written, and a solid romance. Sarah King loves her garden.
When she finds herself falling in love with a physician who is not Amish she questions what she should do. This was my second listen for Kelly Long’s books and again I was impressed by the freshness in her writing and the passion in the romance. These characters are portrayed as real people with genuine emotions rather than the cookie cutter images seen in some of the Amish books.
Listeners should keep in mind that this is an inspirational romance, the book originally published by Thomas Nelson. Lovely spiritual arc for both the hero and the heroine.
Well done, Kelly!
I love Christian fiction and cozy mysteries. I'm blind now, so I listen to all my books.
I'm loving the entire series. I enjoyed the courtship of Sarah and Grant. I also liked how the Amish community began to accept Grant, the Englisha vet. The visions of the gardens Sarah designed were delightful. The narrator also did an excellent job.
Great Amish fiction!
I love Amish fiction and this one was really good. My world is so busy and crazy sometimes, that I have to get away. Since there is no time to literally get away, I do it through stories and books.
My tastes in books tends to be rather eclectic and it just depends on my mood. If I have seen too much of the “world” with its selfishness and meanness I need a good Christian novel to remind me of who I am and what I believe in. The narrator was wonderful. Her voice was calming and the words written by the author were wise and truthful.
Would I want to be Amish; I can honestly say no. But to know that there are Amish communities close by and that there are people that can ignore the temptations of this world and live a simple life, following the instructions of Christ is enough for me. Do I believe that all Amish live a life like the ones portrayed in Amish fiction; of course not. After all, no matter how anyone lives, we are all people cut from the same cloth and that cloth is not perfect or even good by any stretch of the imagination. But a book like this one takes me away from some of the ugliness of the world and helps to mend some of my wounds by restoring my faith in God and in his children.
The bishop. I really like the way he was portrayed and I love the fact that the author whether intentional or not gave him a little me a of "yoda" personality.
Her voice. I loved it. She was able to give each of the characters a voice that as the reader I could believe same from that character.
Sarah's father. He was wise and loving and the kind of father that every child would want.
If you like Christian and Amish fiction, then listen to this audio book!
There hasn't been many good new Amish books lately. Either the story is good and performance is bad or the other way around. This is an all around good book. I have listened to it twice. Awesome book!
