In the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, a lone survivor faces a grave new threat as even the undead begin to disappear, in this sequel to Mountain Man.

Ever since the end of civilization, Gus Berry has spent his days waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable zombie attack on his mountain fortress. Occasionally, he must take his life in his hands and venture into the undead world below in search of supplies.

These days, Gus is accustomed to the mortal threats he encounters. He has steeled himself against the corpse-infested streets, human scavengers, and unending loneliness. But now something new and strange is happening: the zombies are disappearing.

It seems a mysterious new threat is assembling—something even more relentless and terrifying than the roaming tides of dead flesh. And it’s preparing to hunt . . .

Gus is a tough guy, but it is hard not to feel bad for him. Go ahead and take my credit got to see what happens next.

Hooked on anther good series

As mentioned for book 1, I don't know if I would invest any credit to continuing with this series, mainly because I don't completely sympathize or connect with the main character. However, it is a fun book because of the action and zombie gore with some interesting twists that some zombie books miss completely. If you have access to the plus catalog then it is a nice time filler when you await for a new book from another favorite author.

I'll keep it short. Guss seemed alot more dumb or annoying this time around. His face got really maimed last book which seemed unnecessary early in the series. Especially from such a small woman. So him narrating as though his teeth were gone got annoying. Also his obsession with alcohol got really old. Him focusing on his alcoholism and talking to the bottle would make me tune out the story. And his decision to just blow up everything and kill himself kinda came out of left field. And same thing as always, he spends too much time getting absolutely wasted on booze but then pulls off this inhuman actions at the end but also maiming himself further. lm expecting Guss to just be in a wheelchair paralyzed by the end of book 3.

Good but not that good

It is surprising that Gus is still alive. He has been through so many life threatening situations, starting with the Hospital. Though he ia an alcoholic and had been alone for a least 2 years; he allowed his humanity to come through towards Scott. Hated how Roxanne betrayed him. That betral pushed slightly over the edge. With all he was dealt and the Horrors seen. Who could really blame him.

The strength of the main character (and the story) in the first book prompted me to get this book. It was a good book. The first book was much better. However, I wish there had been less drinking. All the drinking got old. Real old. I get it that zombies are everywhere and he drinks to cope. I haven't made up my mind yet if I'm going to get book 3.

The story had too much emphasis on the rats. But, the Mountain Man is awesome!

First Book is Better

I really felt so afraid for the man to be alone and in such a State to have to deal with the tragic dangers real or unreal. my God I can only licken it to what is going on in our society today and the meth addicts and how they will just take from you , kill you, or even suck from another meth addicts sore to get a little bit of meth. no regard for human life and murder for a few dollars.

was very different from the first ones
