Publisher's summary

Alone in the big city, a fierce young frontierswoman must outsmart a dangerous con man before she can stake her claim to the family fortune.

Sixteen-year-old Echo Sackett has never been far from her Tennessee home - until she makes the long trek to Philadelphia to collect her inheritance. In the wilderness Echo can take care of herself as well as any man, but she never imagined the challenge that awaits: a crooked city lawyer who intends to take advantage of her by any means necessary. Echo will need all of her wits to best this scoundrel and make it back home in one piece.

Echos ' story

An excellent history of America in its infancy. The Sacketts are a favorite family of mine, I grew up.reading these stories with my mom. Now with Audible I can listen to old friends and do my crafting at the same time.

A Delightful Change Of Pace!

We really enjoyed this change of pace. A western all about a feminine warrior the age of a sophomore or junior in high school. Our school system would benefit greatly from young people like this Sackette! We won't go on except to say, "get your copy today and enjoy a delight-filled trip"!

Vintage L'Amour

vintage L'Amour told from a female perspective. I enjoyed the hook and enjoyed the audible presentation.

Almost stopped listening(Spoiler ahead)

I don't particularly expect ultra realism and rational logic. I know fiction will have crazy stuff going on and that's expected but when a character does something dumb that is obviously simply for the sake of keeping the story going or sticking to a baseline already in mind it ruins the story. That's Hollywood non sense that ruins movie as well. People are dumb, illogical, egotistical, irrational and all types of other faults one might find agitating but they have a reasoning for their actions and Echo's reasoning for not alerting any authorities while on the steamboat was agitating. In the city before recovering her carpet bag she stated that she would not go to the police because there was no time, making ot seem as if she would given the proper situation. Then on the boat she has much opportunity to tell someone that there are thieves and killers on the boat but she decided she should take care of it herself, then doesn't take any action herself. Absurd. Done simply to keep the conflict going, would have been better off cutting out the boat scene.
