Publisher's summary

The sequel you’ve been waiting for: the follow-up to the sensational number-one best seller The Devil Wears Prada.

Eight years have passed since Andrea "Andy" Sachs quit the job "a million girls would die for" working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine - a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Now Andy’s on the top of the world: She’s writing and reporting to her heart’s content; running The Plunge, her wildly successful high-fashion bridal magazine with Miranda’s other ex-assistant, Emily; and most importantly, getting married to the scion of a storied media family and the love of her life.

But the night before her wedding, Andy can’t sleep. As happy as she is - as happy as she should be - she’s still haunted by the specter of her former boss. Maybe it’s survivor syndrome? Or maybe it’s justifiable, self-inflicted, paranoia. From the start, Andy and Emily have felt entitled to use their rolodex of contacts - Miranda’s contacts - from Runway as they make their way in the magazine world. As The Plunge succeeds, Andy and Emily realize they’ll soon come face to face with their former tormenter at industry functions, award ceremonies, and even weddings. Still, Andy can hardly anticipate the horrifying reality that’s approaching - a reversal so profound that she will be squarely in Miranda’s crosshairs once more.

Karma’s a bitch. And Andy’s efforts to build a bright new life have led her directly to the one she fled - and into the path of the Devil herself.

Slow Moving

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I was so excited to start this immediately after The Devil Wears Prada and was a bit let down. The story is slow moving and there were some stark inconsistencies from the first book. It was difficult to relate the characters from one book to the next. I'm trying to enjoy this book independent from the first but it is a challenge. I'm on Chapter 11 and will give it some more time to win me over. The Devil Wears Prada was absolutely gripping so again, this one is a let down.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lauren Weisberger again?

yes

Would you be willing to try another one of Megan Hilty’s performances?

not sure

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

most likely

Curiously interesting

Would you consider the audio edition of Revenge Wears Prada to be better than the print version?

As I am legally blind, I am unable to read a print version. Ergo, Audible.

If you’ve listened to books by Lauren Weisberger before, how does this one compare?

I think the Devil Wears Prada was very good. The reader was superb. At the time, it was cutting edge and also very funny while at the same time with serious undertones about real problems.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cannot answer this question. The sequel was different. What did annoy me a bit was that Andy seemed so incapable of speaking for herself or acting - when she is protrayed as an intelligent, feminist woman. When the reader can "see" what is going on and Andy cannot see this, it is unbelievable.

If you could rename Revenge Wears Prada, what would you call it?

I don't know. The title is misleading.

Any additional comments?

I thought the character development was lacking in this sequel. I wanted to know more about Lily and found Emily's character not liking. Also, I thought Max was one-dimensional. I would have enjoyed a fun scene with Christian. Also, too much baby-icky details.

To long winded

This could probably be a good book as a follow up to the Devils Wears Prada, but the book is way to long for no reason which makes the narrator long winded. I am a reader that appreciates detail, but the author with overboard, which instantly makes you want to put the book away. I hope the third boom is better, or I will cut it short also.

A perfect way to wrap up in Prada

If you could sum up Revenge Wears Prada in three words, what would they be?

Stylish real closure

Who was your favorite character and why?

Andy is a class act in a fashion clad world. She brings a realistic air to the story and keeps you engaged.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

There was very little definition in voices between characters, which was a let down.

If you could take any character from Revenge Wears Prada out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Andy of course - to discuss mommy attire and sleep schedules.

Any additional comments?

Where is the plot line?

This book ended with me feeling like it never really got started. Super shallow variety of semi-plots bubbling under the surface without any of them actually ever gaining any traction. Such a let down after the original. Not sure how they could be so completely different in quality but I wouldn't waste my time reading/listening if I were you.

Nothing like the first book

This book pretty much made me dislike every character from this series which is unfortunate. Miranda honestly seems more likeable when everyone else in the book is constantly whining, backstabbing or just acting toxic in general.

The third book seems to have better reviews so I may check it out but this wasn’t what I was hoping from in a sequel.

Fun and entertaining

For me, this type of book is unrealistic and fun. I try not to have "expectations" other than to be entertained. Lauren Weisberger is a writer who does a good job of entertaining.

Andy is back with THE Emily as her best friend and co-creator of a bridal magazine. They're both married, with no children yet, and enjoying their success. Enter Miranda, who wants a piece of the pie/magazine that Andy and Emily have worked so hard to create and make a success. As usual, Miranda turns everything upside down for Andy. But Emily has a lack of memory as to what it was like working for Miranda. While Em is having selective memory and trying to look at everything on the positive side, Andy remembers everything. The thought of working with Miranda again is Andy's absolute worst nightmare.
