Publisher's summary

A wall went up around Alex Brady's heart when his father, a New York firefighter, died in the Twin Towers. Turning his back on the only woman he ever loved, Alex shut out all the people who cared about him to concentrate on fighting crime. He and his trusty K9 partner, Bo, are determined to eliminate evil in the world and prevent tragedies like 9/11.

Then the worst fire season in California's history erupts, and Alex faces the ultimate challenge to protect the community he serves. An environmental terrorist group is targeting the plush Oak Canyon Estates. At the risk of losing his job, and his soul, Alex is determined to infiltrate the group and put an end to their corruption. Only the friendship of Clay and Jamie Michaels - and the love of a dedicated young woman - can help Alex drop the walls around his heart and move forward into the future God has for him.

Excellent Christian novel

A story of holding on to the pain and heartache after 9-11 and learning to let go and let God.

Faith Based Novel

I got this because it was on sale/special. I enjoyed it. If you are not a religious person you might not like this book. It was a good story.

Loved this one!

I think there have only been one or two of Karen Kingsbury's books that I didn't enjoy immensely. This was one of those that was very good; kept my interest throughout.

Caught My Interest

Not all of the story rang true for me. As a sheriff's deputy, Alex doesn't seem to get the concept of being part of a paramilitary organization. He bends the rules, believing his choices are better than those of whom he answers to. When involved in an officer shooting, he feels the standard two weeks off with pay is punishment and even an indictment of his actions.

The concept is interesting, One main character has chosen to devote themself to righteous anger for the wrong done to a loved one. The other main character will not move on with life when badly rejected. I did care about these two and how their overwhelming issues might be resolved. But the storyline was uneven, spending far too much time exploring internal dialogue and rationales.

The plot wrapped up a bit too predictably and neatly to feel real. I don't feel it was the author's best work but it mostly held my interest

A great story of what unforgiveness does to us!

As with all her books, Karen Kingsburg weaves spiritual truths in such a real way, that you cannot help but feel and absorb them. It is an essential way of life to live in forgiveness and constantly check yourself, so no unforgiveness can take root and slowly destroy you spiritually, and often physically. Thank You Almighty Father, for Your forgiveness of us, and Lord Jesus, for The price You paid so this could be done! Thank You Holy Spirit for Your Constant guidance! And thank you Karen for another amazing book!
