Publisher's summary

Hidden deep beneath Manhattan lies a warren of tunnels, sewers, and galleries, mostly forgotten by those who walk the streets above. There lies the ultimate secret of the Museum Beast.

When two grotesquely deformed skeletons are found deep in the mud off the Manhattan shoreline, museum curator Margo Green is called in to aid the investigation. Margo must once again team up with police lieutenant D'Agosta and FBI agent Pendergast, as well as the brilliant Dr. Frock, to try and solve the puzzle. The trail soon leads deep underground, where they will face the awakening of a slumbering nightmare.

Prolong the suspense: listen to the first book, Relic.

Critic reviews

The netherworld of New York City...proves as shuddery a setting for the authors' latest scientific monster mash as the American Museum of Natural History did for their bestselling Relic, to which this is the sequel. ( Publishers Weekly)
"This should do for the New York subway system what Jaws did for Long Island beaches." ( Booklist)
"Dick Hill's reading of this fascinating sequel to Relic builds the suspense and horror." ( AudioFile)

Interesting story beyond the theatrics

Good story, some characters too “overdone” for lack of a better term, but worth the read. I’m just not a fan of having books read with someone imitating a bunch of different voice, a few are nice for keeping track but this one had too many and some just didn’t fit. It’s hard for me to read so just having it read aloud is enough, it doesn’t ha e to be a play

Best aurhors

At 70+, I can remember my mother reading books similar to this. whether by Lincoln-Child I'm not certain. As she became older she listened to Lincoln-Child on books for the blind. She always had at least one but them. And now it's my turn. And while I prefer make narrators, I listen to them all.
N ow, I wonder about what's in the tunnels under New York.

almost nonstop action story...

Would you consider the audio edition of Reliquary to be better than the print version?

I would have to say yes, but I have not read the print version of this story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

For the most part it kept me on the edge of my seat, because it was almost nonstop action.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His narration is awesome, he does the different characters voices splendidly. I especially enjoyed the way he narrated pendergasts' charming Orleans voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

a little bit of crying, and a lot of breath holding from the seemingly endless action.

Any additional comments?

I do a lot of series reading/listening to of stories, and in a majority of them, if you do not read them in order it doesn't affect the story a lot, but in this case, you should read/listen to The Relic first, because this story the Reliquary, is so much an extension of the relic that you might not fully comprehend all that happens in this story. That, however, does not stop the gist of this story, nor does it effect the action and suspense of this story.

Suspenseful story read suspensefully

I loved this audiobook! The author's monotone narrative really added an animated contrast to the characters. I hope that he is the reader of the remaining books in the series.

GREAT SEQUEL TO RELIC

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highest recommendation if you liked RELIC. This story adds depth, interest, and definition to it's predecessor..

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reliquary?

Too many memorable moments to deliniate only one.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't really care for Dick Hill's oral interpretation in general, but this story carries him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

My first time with Preston & Child but I have listened to Lincoln Child before and enjoyed his stories.
