What a wonderful and thrilling story!

Omg!!!! I saw the film adaptation of The Relic and enjoyed the book also. but this was absolutely fascinating and a thrill ride all the way. I throughly enjoyed this and look forward to enjoying more of your titles 😀

Reliquary

I absolutely love the Pendergast series. He is one of my favorite characters from all the books I've ever read. I wasn't terribly impressed with the narrator because he made Smithback sound too whiny and Margo was so bland as a character. I've always thought of her as a soft spoken but strong female character. Laura Hayward was excellently done as was D'Agosta.

Overall, this wasn't my favorite narration but it was adequate. I will definitely get the next book in the Pendergast series as soon as I have a credit available. Audibles is definitely something I love on these 10-12 hour drives I take every couple of weeks.

Stil so good even after 26 years

Brings back haply memories of reading my 1st edition hardbacks, still happily shelved and covered. Really wish we could have had some standalone Smithback tales but alas he has been "dead" for tears now.
Always have to go back and get to the beginning of my favorite characters from time to time.

Excellent

Loved it! The voice actor, the story, the suspence and surprises,... Everything. Going to put all Preston & Childs books on my list.

Falls short of the first book.

I read the first book and took a liking to many of the characters so I was happy to see some of them return here. Given that fact I will likely listen to the third book and hope it gets better.

If I had rated this before the last hour it would have been 3s all across but the story took a turn for the dumb in the last hour so I took it down to 2 stars.

I did not enjoy this narrator as much as the narrator of the first book. It seemed that he mixed up the voices of two of the main male characters a couple of times. I figured it out from context but it interrupted the storyline.

Excellent Download

This was a great purchase. The dramatization was excellent. It definitely kept you involved with the story. Definitely not for children.

It was horrible. the male voices all sounded whiny, especially Smithback who sounded like a nasally, whimp.

I really enjoy the Pendergast novels (though Pendergast is hardly relevant in this story). I loved this story but it fell short of 5 stars. My main complaint is why, oh why did they change narrator form Relic?! David Colacci did a wonderful job; Dick Hill is horrible. I almost stopped listening but kept at it anyway. Also i do not like the various "voice sound effects" like the "phone" or "radio" or "thinking" effects. I find them distracting & annoyoing.
If there is a complaint with the actualy story it is why do our authors feel that absolutely anyone in authority is an absolute ass and was clearly, somehow put in a position of management or supervision to make stupid decisions?
Overall i think this would be a better read than listen.

Great book, but ignore the bad science

The novel is well paced, fun, and full of action. The characters are (mostly) believable, and suitably flawed. The performance is decent, but most of the characters are lacking their own voice, and there are a few mispronunciations. Overall, the book is quite enjoyable, and makes for an wonderful and exciting followup to "Relic".

The one thing that bears warning, is the use of false science, or the lack of proper research. While this presents itself as a Michael Crichton-type book, that is an extrapolation of science fact, into science fiction, there are many falsities, and incorrect assumptions made. Especially where physics are concerned with the final confrontations. If you can suspend your disbelief, and acknowledge this is fiction, then you should be good. But if you watch movies, and say to yourself "That's not how explosives work" or watch CSI, and say to yourself "DNA can't be ran in a half hour", then you may want to back away from this book.

I give it a jesh and a huuump.

The narrator is fantastic. The 1st book is better. Alas I am too deep now to stop. I'll continue with the series.
