I love this story and saw the movie with James Woods, it was great! I did not like the narration at all. I just can't get into it and can't seem to get past the first 5-10 minutes.
This is one of my favorite King short stories but I was disappointed by the performance. At several points during the recording, there is a heavy handed sax driven muzak playing in the background - it makes the performance come off as cheesy and makes the reader difficult to understand. As for Roberts - he reads through the material very quickly and he often sounds like he has the microphone too close to his mouth and is often hard to understand. I tried setting the ipod to slower playback but it just made him sound drunk. I set the eq on the ipod to spoken voice and that seemed to help a little - although by that point I may have just been used to it. The fact that this was so short was probably the only reason I stuck it out until the end.
A longer story.
While the ending was good it didn't give me enough.
Almost mumbles through some parts.
Price should be cheaper for such a story.
Yes, this book is riveting. I could not put it down until it was complete.
Strange twist...unexpected events.
Eric made me believe he was telling his own story.
You WILL Quit!!!
Keep up the great work.
AUDIBLE MAKES READING POSSIBLE AND EASY FOR ME...I AM VISUALLY IMPAIRED. I WISH THEY HAD ALL THE BOOKS I WANT I WOULD SNAP THEM UP!
yes. i like the story and even if it isn't just for you it is only a short story.
i liked the whole story. and the reader was great!
mr.tonnati. i loved the accent. he was so cool and he meant business!
if king can waste over a thousand pages on a story like "it". why can't he develope this story into a full length novel???
Short and sweet but definitely classic King!
If you enjoy Stephen King's short stories, you will love this book... quick and easily done in one session (less than 45 mins) but has that ending you know you don't expect but there it is! Love this book.
Enjoy listening to many different types of books. I like to listen while I am in the car and working.
This is a great short story. It wpould probably work if it were legal.
How bad to you want to quit?
Eric Roberts does an excellent job of narrating Stephen King's chilling tale of a man who inadvertently has to go to extreme lengths to quit his smoking habit. King's writing is so descriptive and plausible that you have to wonder if such and organisation might exist somewhere for the hardcore vice addicts. If only it went for longer.
It's a smart short story that asks the question, what's more important a drag from a cigarette or your families safety ?
None come to mind.
The man in charge of Quitters Inc. was pretty creepy and well voiced by Eric Roberts.
Neither, but it is smart and suspenseful. If anything, it made me cringe a little bit.
"Another Stephen King Masterpiece"
