Tessa Lancaster's skills first earned her a position as an enforcer in her Uncle Teruo's Japanese Mafia gang. Then they landed her in prison for a crime she didn't commit. Now, three months after her release, Tessa's abilities have gained her a job as bodyguard for wealthy socialite Elizabeth St. Amant and her three-year-old son.
But there's a problem or two... or three....
There's Elizabeth's abusive husband whose relentless pursuit goes deeper than mere vengeance. There's Uncle Teruo, who doesn't understand why Tessa's new faith as a Christian prevents her from returning to the yakuza. And then there's Elizabeth's lawyer, Charles Britton, who Tessa doesn't know is the one who ensured that she did maximum time behind bars. Now Tessa and Charles must work together in order to protect their client, while new truths emerge and circumstances spiral to a deadly fever pitch.Factor in both Tessa's and Charles's families and you've got some wild dynamics - and an action-packed, romantic read as Tessa and Charles discover the reality of being made new in Christ.

Fun, exciting, engaging
No, but she does a good job. Even gets down the accents. The mother is my favorite.
The main character, Tessa, is well written. She is interesting, intriguing and conflicted. She comes off as a rounded character.
I very much liked the story line. It is new and interesting. I especially liked that the romance takes a backseat to the main adventure of the story. Tessa is a character that is lovable in spite of her mistakes and inspiring to watch while she tries to make amends for her bad choices in the past.
Drive for work and listen all day long. Audible is a God send as it lifts me from traffic and off to an adventure!!
I love reading her books as they are like the joy luck club letting us understand the Asian American world.
The character is a martial artist, once part of the Japanese yakuza, but now a Christian.
I am wondering if I am odd on this one, as the read was flowing and easy to listen to, but she was not Asian, or I could not hear it if she was. I felt like I was watching an old western where the Indians were Italian.
Thank you God for Christian writers who can write. No embarrassing points in the books that you will have to mute for kids.
I want more Camy Tang audio books as her books are great.
Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.
Tessa is a good character with enough past to keep her interesting. Story was flowing and enjoyable. A little romance but nothing graphic, which was enjoyable.
The narrator did a fine job.
Overall worth a credit.
