Publisher's summary

Garrison Keillor's latest book is about the wedding of a girl named Dede Ingebretson, who comes home from California with a guy named Brent. Dede has made a fortune in veterinary aromatherapy; Brent bears a strong resemblance to a man wanted for extortion who's pictured on a poster in the town's post office. Then there's the memorial service for Dede's aunt Evelyn, who led a footloose and adventurous life after the death of her husband 17 years previously. Add a surprise boyfriend and a band of newly arrived Mormon missionaries, and the gently rendered chaos is complete.

Must have!!

This is another great book. I really feel for the characters. I can always visit and see the Chatter Box Cafe in my mind, and at time it does get a bit wordy, but all in all a true winner. If you love Garrison this is a must have.

So many stories

couldn't finish. too slow and too many stories going on at once was very confusing.

4:00 am just finished for about the 20th time --wonderful doesn't do it justice-- funny, mysterious, absorbing best book ever.

From start to finish it boggles the imagination. I always regret when it ends--with "one good song after another". But know I will find it just as absorbing the next read. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a great tale, and Garrison Keillor as I do.

An enjoyable look at life in a small town.

I put off listening to this because I've listened to Garrison Keillor before, and although I have enjoyed him, I've been into more action/adventure lately and planned to listen to another one. While scrolling through my Audible books I ran across "Pontoon" and decided it was time for a change of pace. I'm so glad I did. Life in Lake Wobegon is quite interesting. The characters are carefully drawn and make you feel like these are people you could know. It was sad, happy, and funny. If you ever lived in a small town, this will bring back memories of those days. However, it is a story anybody can immensely enjoy. Loved it.

Keillor is an artist!

Nobody can paint a picture like Garrison Keillor. He talks and you can see what he's talking about - and, mostly, it's hilarious. Lutheran pastors in a boat? A naked boy parasailing? Just too much fun. And, most gratifying for some of us - not a perfect, skinny, beautiful female in the whole book!! I loved it!!

Vintage Keillor; a must listen for anyone missing the Prairie Home Companion. Enjoy the threads as they al, some literally, land in Lake Wobegon...

My first Keillor, but not my last!

I enjoyed every minute of this quirky story. I'll be reading and/ or listening to more in the near future.
