Publisher's summary

Rose awakens in a fairytale land, stripped of her memories and any sense of self she might once have possessed. Facing a short life of brutal servitude as one of the May Queen's executioners, she chooses instead a reckless dash for freedom alongside her sister-captive, Lavender. Yet even if the two women manage to flee the otherworld to return earthside, they may never be safe from the reach of cruel faeries who seek to use them as pawns in a deadly game.

When a strange silver man calling himself Clarent unexpectedly dumps out onto the doorstep of their apartment, Rose and Lavender will work together with a diverse community of survivors in order to stay alive and free. Through the magical dangers that assault them on all sides, Rose must navigate the struggles brought on by her painful past while contending with the difficulty of forging an intimate relationship with the two people who love her most when her very body is lethal.

What a wonderful fluffy happy read!

This was such an enjoyable story. Perfect mix of fluff and happy and scary tension. The reader has a great quality voice but reading was a little rushed and a little flat. It's a style you get used to tho and does not take away from the tale at all.

An incredible, unique story

I don't usually read books with a large focus on explicit romance. This was outside my comfort zone. But it more than made up for that in sheer awesomeness.

At times it felt like there were two stories going on — the three way romance and the conflict with a race of all-powerful fanfic authors — but that worked to its advantage; every time I started to predict beats of one story, the other one cropped up, which meant it could repeatedly surprise me. The characters are complex enough to be relatable and yet simple enough to be understandable. The descriptions are eloquent when they need to be. The occasional spice of humor is just enough to stay engaging without becoming a self-parody.

Also? It gives a whole new meaning to the term "love triangle."

Smooth

Ana Mardoll has constructed a captivating story that goes down easy. The book explores magic, but there is a very small learning curve for the reader to follow how it works. Ana has gifted us a rich cast of memorable characters, and a variety of experiences to empathize with and learn from, including loss, romance, different types of relationships, queerness and mental health. There is a ton of diversity, though I assure you that it does not read as forced. Acceptance rings true in this marvelous tapestry of a story Ana has woven for us. ... It also gets a little sexy.
