Critic reviews

“[Lorelei King's] throaty, self-assured voice, judiciously paced reading style, and matter-of-fact tones create a natural-sounding delivery that adds realism to this story of Stephanie Plum's search for a killer named Grimoire and his new business partner, a boy genius and physicist named Martin Munch.” —AudioFile magazine

“Lorelei King does her usual superlative job for the Evanovich oeuvre, adding juice and dimension to each wacky character…. King enhances the humor of this series, so much so that Evanovich fans should consider putting down that book and plugging in the CD player instead.” —Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

“Evanovich is a sharp, funny, contemporary and clever writer... [with] a great cast of characters... Ms. Evanovich made me a convert.” —Winston-Salem Journal

A good series to listen to!

I really enjoy the "Plum" series. Witty and enjoyable (but short)! I've read all the books, and listened to most of the series and I have to say that Lorelei King makes these books in audio format. There were a few in this series narrated by CJ Critt and Lori Petty, and I couldn't get through the book because of the awful narration.
I love Lorelei's "Lula" voice- hysterical, and Martin Munch sounds like an older version of Steve Erkel. Not too fond of the "Diesel" voice, but I guess you can't win em' all. I will continue to purchase this series as long as King narrates them.

Plum good

Not the best Stephanie Plum book, but still very good. Stephanie Plum and her world is always good for a laugh.

Cute

This is another of the shorter side-stories in the Stephanie Plum series...and it's a fun, quick, light listen!

Typical Plum...and that's a good thing !

This is a very typical, entertaining, fun and enjoyable romp through all things Plum. Just the right amount of rediculousness, and enchanting story-telling. A quick listen, and as always, the narration is spot-on.

A little slower than some Plum storylines

I am an avid fan of all of the Stephanie Plum series, including the "between the numbers" like "Plum Spooky"... but this one was a little slow moving. Still, the narration remains stellar and the storyline never fails to entertain!

Classic Evanovich Fun

I always enjoy Janet Evanovich's books and this was no exception. I know the "between the numbers" books can be read in any order and without necessarily reading the "numbers" books... but I do wish it was easier to tell where they actually do fit in the great timeline of all things Plum. That aside... if you're looking for a fun and light read (listen that is) you can't beat this or any of the other Stephanie Plum books. If you're looking for something to replace that copy of War and Peace you have keeping the bedside table level... look elsewhere... and lighten up already!!!

I do hope that Carl the monkey puts in an occasional guest appearance in future novels. He's utterly over the top but so is Stephanie and the rest of the gang.

Nah, Not This One

Where does Plum Spooky rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not bad but not great.

What did you like best about this story?

Of course I love Lula but the mystic and reality in the story is not my cup of tea.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As usual Lorelei does a good job with the characters so listening is a pleasure.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The only reaction I had was that I don't care for the mystic side in the story.

Hysterical

I enjoyed this story more than the other non-numeric named books. Absurd story with crazy characters woven together quite well.
