"Could not get past chapter 4.."
What disappointed you about Plain Perfect?

I could not take it anymore, I stopped listening before I got to chapter 5. The story had great potential and to be honest it may actually be quite good. What I could not get over was that the 27 year old main character was portrayed as if she was a 14 year old. I was not able to determine if this was the narrator or the writing. The story has such great potential I may have to look into getting the book in print and see if I can wipe that image of a googly eyed goofy teenager from my mind.

    "Plain Perfect"
Would you try another book from Beth Wiseman and/or Renee Ertl?

    Yes.

What did you like best about this story?

I like learning about different cultures than the one I am living.

How could the performance have been better?

Yes. Definitely. The reader used the wrong emphasis on many of the words in the sentences. There was a difficulty in following what she was saying sometimes.

Was Plain Perfect worth the listening time?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

The reader could have used a lesson in reading with feeling and emphasis on the correct words in the sentence. The reader was easy to understand, but her voice inflections were not good, and she used practically the same monotone of voice throughout the book. It was kind of distracting sometimes.

We are RV'ers traveling the USA. I love Romance, Mysteries, and Thriller Novels. Good listening while on the road.

"A bit too Sappy/Predictable for me"

I usually like Amish stories, but this was no Witness (The Movie) I knew it wasn't a thriller or an award winner, but I thought it might be a good story. It wasn't. It was so predictable and boring. At least it was on sale.

    "Satisying, Rewarding & Relaxing"
Where does Plain Perfect rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would have to say if I had to rank "Plain Perfect" among all of the audiobooks that I have listened to I would rank not only the book but the "series" among the "TOP 5". I found the series on Audiobook Library Loan & enjoyed the first book so much I researched the author & all of her books & went to Audible & purchased the next book in the line up "Plain Pursuit". When I completed the second book I immediately went to the third & so on. I not only researched the author but read all of the reviews to ascertain if the book or books will be something that I am interested in reading or listening to. Beth Wiseman is creative, talented and weaves believable events among the trials & tribulations of English life & Amish Life. You will walk in their shoes along the pathway of searching for an enriched life whether they choose the English life or the Amish life. I was curious about the philosophy of the Amish life & their day to day activites which lead me through the series of books. I have listened/read the series twice & have enjoyed each and every book.

What did you like best about this story?

In answering the question,"What did you like best about this story?" I would have to say the "Simple Abundance" of daily Amish life & the search for GOD's LOVE & GIFTS in each & every moment of the day. I was curious about the Amish culture & interested in how Lillian would escape her unfilling life & find refuge in her Amish grand parents farm. Beth did an excellent job in creating a Amish lifestyle that causes an Englisher such as myself to examine my own dialy life & work to "simplify" everything & search for more of GOD"s abundant gifts. The book was relaxing & rewarding & I would recommend it to everyone I know.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can honestly say that the gathering for the "barn raising" literally caused goose bumps on my arms & I felt so inspired with that segment of the story. All in all the entire books was a "work of art" ! Thank you Beth Wiseman. May GOD continue to bless & enrich your writing skills for us.

If you could rename Plain Perfect, what would you call it?

If you could rename "Plain Perfect" what would you name it? That is an interesting question for a reader. I wouldn't rename it.

    Any additional comments?

Yes, I do have an additional comment & request. Please reduce the number of questions that you ask a reviewer to answer. Most likely you would receive a lot more reviews if you didn't ask so many questions. Give us the freedom to write from the heart. That is what review is all about. Thank you!

    "Performance too much drama"

I am enjoying this book very much ...although Renee is very "dramatic" which the Amish are NOT. and she doesn't know how to even pronounce Lancaster. It is not "land-caster" it is "lankester" being from Pennsylvania it erks me how many times this word has been mispronounced. Let's get people to read these books that have done research of the people and places. Like Christina Moore. She is the best one I have ever heard read these types of books.

    "Great audio"

I loved listening to this audio book. Beth Wiseman develops the characters and relationships well, and you feel as if you are there with them. It was easy listening and I was never bored. I will definitely be listening to the next book in the series.
