Escaping to London, Poppy moves into the bohemian household of Caspar French, a ravishingly good-looking young artist. But even in her colourful new home, Poppy can't get Tom off her mind. Until she's tracked him down, she'll never know if their meeting was destiny.

"A romp of a read....One for romantics." (Company)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fun reading from start to finish.
If you want a light read for a sunny afternoon you cant do better.
I found the reader quite good although I am aware that many persons
may not tune in to the 'english accent'.
This book was great - the best Jill Mansell I've heard on audible. The story was interesting (almost all character lines were good) and the narrator did a great job. I have listened to it twice now.
author of books for teens and children
A fun story of the romantic complications of a young British woman and her sweet, though a bit zany roommates. Fast-paced and funny, with characters I cared about. Great for fans of Sophie Kinsella.
I am a total audiobook addict! I travel quite a bit for work and listen to them while I drive. Always searching for a good author to follow
No, I found it a bit boring.
Yes, I have read most of her books.
I never really clicked with any of the characters in this book. I found most of them annoying or spoilt! I usually enjoy Jill Mansell books but this one was just a bit boring.
It’s chick lit with a romantic happy ending. I was frustrated and angry with stupid actions. I did not like Poppy’s best friend Dina who was so obnoxious and unlikeable that she reflected poorly on Poppy. But I don’t want to fault this too much because bad characters do make stories better. Several parts of the story were good. And I loved the happy ending. It was a surprise.
1. Poppy works for Jake an antiques dealer. She and Jake are at an auction. Jake has to leave so he writes down what he wants Poppy to bid on and how much to pay. She loses the paper. So she tries to remember what was on it and bids on things he did not want. He is forced to pay for them. I was angry.
2. On another occasion, Poppy did something similar. She bought something for the store to sell that Jake had to pay for that was a huge mistake. She was a store clerk. She had no business doing that.
The main plot based on errors in connecting did not work for me. Poppy meets Tom at a bar. They have an immediate attraction. She wants to stay with him but her obnoxious girlfriend Dina forces her to leave. Poppy doesn’t ask his last name. She pines for him for the rest of the book. Later Tom sees Dina in a bar and asks her to give his name and phone to Poppy. Dina loses the paper and doesn’t remember what was on it. Why didn’t Tom ask Dina what Poppy’s last name was and try to contact her himself? For some reason I was not enjoying this.
I preferred two other books by this author. Take a Chance on Me (4 stars) and Miranda’s Big Mistake (3 stars).
Karen Cass was good.
Genre: chick lit with romance
Karen Cass is fantastic! This is a sweet story with a good dash of romance and many likeable characters. Karen has a great way of giving voices to the characters - and expressing their personalities.
This one is simply just pleasant listening. The story isn't going to change your life with a great epiphany but it will give you a good 12 hours of listening entertainment.
If this was a movie, it would be classified as a 'chick flick' - girly. I doubt that this book will appeal to men.
An avid listener of audio books.
This book was a great suprise. So many twists and turns. Beautifully romantic. So many great characters and plots to keep you guessing.
I really enjoyed this book. It held my interest and was laugh-out-loud amusing. My only regret is that the two major characters didn't have enough love scenes together and there was not a respectable amount of time given before another relationship was realistically and respectively taken up -My personal gripes. Would I listen to it again? I have - Many times. Really worth your time. By Richard's wife
I nearly gave up on this after the first couple of hours. The characters are uninteresting and the storyline is slow at best. I listened to the end because I didn't want to waste a valuable credit. Kind of wish I had given up now though, the ending was not worth waiting for.
I liked this book a lot and was keen to hear it all to the end. Nice characters and funny too. I like the direction the story went in and although it is predictable chick lit, the journey to the predictable ending is a fun one. Definitely worth a listen.
"Wonderful Frothy Romantic Novel"
I thoroughly enjoyed this and it is a perfect antidote to a miserable day. The characters are all lovely even the supposed cantankerous one. I almost wish I had lived in this house in London as a young woman with these people. I think anyone who wants an uplifting story should try this book.
