    Overall
    "Perfect Love by Elizabeth Buchan"

This an absorbing family story with romance, conflict, deceit, and intrigue. The characters are well drawn and vivid to the reader. Those that are likeable are extremely attractive and the less likeable are so familiar. Pru is happily married to an older husband with whom she has a young daughter. But Violet, her glamourous and selfish stepdaughter, returns to Britain with husband and child. Pru and Violet never bonded and the atmosphere between the two women is edgy.
The contrast between them exposes weaknesses in the two families as relationships shift with drastic consequences. This is a gripping and most enjoyable novel beautifully read by Sian Phillips.
