The old submarine-chaser USS Hibiscus, re-fitting in a Hong Kong dockyard before being handed over to the Nationalist Chinese, is suddenly ordered to the desolate island group of Payenhau. For Captain Mark Gunnar - driven by the memory of his torture at the hands of the Viet Cong guerrillas - the new command is a chance to even the score against a ruthless, unrelenting enemy. Always a excellent performance
Listened to many of Douglas Reeman's books. In my opinion this is one of his best.
A more complex story of intrigue and constant action
A fan of historic naval history I found this very dissappointing. D.R. is becoming a bit repetitive in his plots: Flawed naval officer+girl+internal struggles+the odd child= "same old, same old". I find if I leave a few months before his books they are quite enjoyable. Not this time.
Narrator did a great job as usual.
