For most couples, a quiet dinner for two at Auberge de la Reine Blanche on the Ile Saint Louis would be just the thing to smooth out the complications in a romance. But for gorgeous Mossad operative Delilah and trying-to-retire contract killer John Rain, nothing is ever easy, and when Rain sees a crew of hard-looking men setting up outside the restaurant, he realizes someone has been bringing her work home with her. Is it a hit - or something even worse? When it comes to killing, business and pleasure are the most dangerous mix of all.

It explains a bit about John Rain's tempestuous relationship with his lover and the reason for his return to Tokyo.
John Rain he is inscrutable.
Barry Eisler's interpretations and accents of the different characters are a delight to listen to, he should be on the stage, he is thorougly entertaining and brings the book and the characters to li
Follow Rain series and this was an important part of the series.
Yes it did. Typical Rain observance and deductions.
Short and Deadly
This is a short story, so it doesn't rank with the other books on Audible. However, I will tell you I liked the fact that Eisler provided a background/bridge story on the Rain-Delilah story line. It is an excellent short story for those of us that are Rain fans. The setup and the action are outstanding.
The way that the characters turned their personal issues into problems for predators waiting for them.
Of course when Rain and Delilah turn the tables on the attackers. I love when predators run into bigger predators through their folly.
Yes. But first the books leafing up,to this one must be read.
The way she and he worked together.
John Rain of course.
Delilah may not need a Samson....
Love all of Barry's books.
This is a (very) short story about John Rain's struggle with having his girlfriend, Delilah, in "the life" while he has quit. He has the realization that maybe the two just don't mix.
Ears picking up the slack so my eyes can work.
It’s a brief story, but as it it needs to be. It’s a sunset that shouldn’t have been more. I’m relieved it wasn’t. (Though I suspect the next Rain novel will be Rain saving Delilah and getting back with her....Graveyard of Memories is a flashback novel, like what Lee Child did with Reacher when delaying his journey to the voice of the woman in DC....if anyone knows what I’m talking about, ha.)
I’m not sure that the ending is left “open.” In real life people break up and don’t look back. I doubt that will being the case in series’ long run, but for now it is.
Rain ends it
Always to good to know more about John Rain
Cell phone guy
You can always be happy with a John Rain story. Even if its only a short one.
I purchased this little story for exactly the reason it's main theme gave me (unbeknownst to me), why did Rain split from Delilah. It is alluded to it in later books but never thoroughly enough. First the author should not narrate these books. Since I have listened to all of his books I can say that clearly the best narrator was Michael McConnohie. His voice was mysterious enough to actually think that he was John Rain. The pretense used for the breakup was bogus. It should have been the vulnerablity to him that comes with any relationship in John Rain's line of work. I REALLY liked this author and his series until he got away from Rain's main occupation with the disastrous bad book called Fault Line. I think the reviews were so bad he tied the characters together in the Detachment. I don't have any idea where he is going but Eisler is about to lose at least this one fan ESPECIALLY with his character that has an alternate lifestyle, Larison! Need I write anymore?
That we know that Delilah and Rain split up for good.
The performance was just OK but that is far below what is expected.
see the review above
It is a good read though bit short and dependent on earlier books.
I am out of order with this one it seems that I would need to be in order.I need the prior one where these 2 met.
It seemed like a good performance.
Yes and no it was incomplete.
I needed the book where these people met.
