Publisher's summary

A passionate, sweeping novel of a love that transcends time.

When twenty-something Wall Street analyst Kate Wilson attracts the notice of the legendary Julian Laurence at a business meeting, no one’s more surprised than she is. Julian’s relentless energy and his extraordinary intellect electrify her, but she’s baffled by his sudden interest. Why would this handsome British billionaire—Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor—pursue a pretty but bookish young banker who hasn’t had a boyfriend since college?

The answer is beyond imagining - at least at first. Kate and Julian’s story may have begun not in the moneyed world of 21st-century Manhattan but in France during World War I, when a mysterious American woman emerged from the shadows of the Western Front to save the life of Captain Julian Laurence Ashford, a celebrated war poet and infantry officer.

Now, in modern-day New York, Kate and Julian must protect themselves from the secrets of the past, and trust in a true love that transcends time and space.

Entertaining time travel ~ not Diana Gabaldon

Overseas was the book club choice because one of our members (a published author) knew Beatriz Williams. Several of us enjoyed the story because it was entertaining - what woman can't appreciate a gorgeous billionaire being in love with her & only her & always her? Some members wanted more of an explanation about "how". When love is involved, the "hows" can't always be explained...nor do they matter.

you have to love romance to love this book!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I HAVE TO SAY: NO. Way too romantic for me. Don't make men like Julian! I was glad when this was over. I purchased this book because it was a time-travel book.

Would you recommend Overseas to your friends? Why or why not?

No---my friends would shudder!

Which scene was your favorite?

"Modern Kate" was a hoot! She ran Julian around like no tomorrow!
Sex scenes were just graphic enough!

Did Overseas inspire you to do anything?

Yes indeed---buy something gritty!

Delightful & charming love story

I enjoyed it!! I loved the development of the characters & their relationship. The story was plausible. The heroine wasn't too whiney or indecisive. Very light.

Absolutely Stunning!

Absolutely stunning! "Overseas" by Beatriz Williams is a captivating novel that takes readers on a journey through time and love. With her eloquent writing style and attention to detail, Williams has created a world that is both enchanting and believable. The characters are well-developed and their stories intertwine seamlessly, making for an incredibly satisfying read. The historical aspect of the novel is also well-researched and adds an extra layer of depth to the story. Overall, "Overseas" is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance novel with a twist. I cannot recommend it enough!

Interesting twists

First of all, January LaVoy is a wonderful narrator. For me, a narrator can literally make or break a book. LaVoy, was able to keep me interested. There are so many twists and turns in this book that, I may have lost interest if the narartor was of the monotone runon type. This was not the case. Although, I found myself having to rewind a few times, during the story, just to understand what was actually happening and why, it was a enjoyable read, and it kept my interest. I highly recommend the book. The story had it all. Good guys, bad guys, true love, Wall Street, betrayal and even time travel!

Great listen - different kind of story

this was a different kind of love story - not an easy listen since you need to keep track of which of the two time slots you are in at any time.
Narrator did a great job and kept interest to the end.
Worth a credit!!!!!!

Not her best work

I have read several books by Beatriz Williams and really like her style. This book, however, could’ve been about half as long. There’s way too much talking between the characters about how much they love each other. They go on and on and don’t add anything to the story. The story, when you cut through all that, is good. It just takes way too long to unravel.
