Publisher's summary
Mr O'Neill dies, and while the family is still mourning, his spirit takes up residence in the tree in the back garden. He calls to his wife and children who, one by one, climb high up in the branches to listen. Consoled by his presence, they refuse to let him go - for a second time. But when they finally learn to accept their loss and try to pick up the pieces, the tree begins to take on a life of its own.
Set in the relentless heat of a Queensland summer and drawing on the traditions of magical realism, Our Father Who Art in the Tree is a charming and poignant exploration of how people come to terms with grief and realise that life must go on.
