Here is the heart-wrenching book that inspired the critically acclaimed movie. Cal and Beth Jarrett are ordinary people: a happy couple living with grocery bills, taxes, barbeque dinners, and orthodontist appointments for their two sons. But when a terrible accident takes the life of one son, their lives begin to fall apart. This is the story of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances - and the lengths they will go to put their lives together again.

I saw the movie 'Ordinary People' and thought I'd like to listen to the book it is based on. This is a beautiful book - very moving and sensitive and also really interesting and character driven. Although it is set in the late 60's the book hasn't dated much at all, it still has a very contemporary feel. The narrator is excellent. A great listen!
It ended like a bad movie that ends all of a sudden. A couple of hours into it I lost interest and purchased a new book. I only went back to it because I was out of audiobooks and a it was the only one I had.
It did not have anything too exciting about. Just like the title, it was just plain and ordinary.
Narration was OK.
It was just OK. Not the type of book that I would be interested in listening to again.
I enjoyed the story. But I had a hard time, sometimes, figuring out who was speaking. The narrator made little to no effort to create individual voices for the characters, so sometimes when there were conversations between the characters, it was difficult to follow who was saying what.
The characters were honest and interesting, and I really felt for Conrad, the central character of the story.
Despite the narrator, I enjoyed listening to this book -- I couldn't wait to hear how everything turned out.
