Someone is spreading rumors around Deadwood that Violet Parker likes to chat with dead folks.
With her reputation endangered, her bank account on the verge of extinction, and her career at risk of going up in flames, Violet is desperate. When the opportunity to sell another vintage home materializes, she grabs it, even though this "haunted" house was recently the stage for a two-act murder-suicide tragedy.
Ghost or no ghost, Violet knows this can't be as bad as the last house of horrors she tried to sell, but sexy Doc Nyce has serious doubts. Her only hope of hanging on to her job is to prove that the so-called ghostly sightings are merely the eccentric owner's optical delusions.
But someone – or something - in the house wants Violet stopped…dead.

Ann Charles - Not in the Deadwood series.
Caroline Shaffer - Probably, depending on which book it was.
I liked all the supporting characters but if you don't like the main character it kind of ruins the whole book. Violet was just too immature and all the sarcastic remarks she makes in her mind gets old fast. I'm sure they were supposed to be cute or funny, but to me they just fell flat.
It did end on a cliffhanger and there are still some unanswered questions, some even from the first book - the author seems to like to drag things out so you'll buy the next book - but I don't care enough to find out.
The story is well written but I wouldn't call it a traditional cozy mystery which is what I prefer to read. There's too much relationship and romance/sex in the plot. However, I may read the next one. I can always fast forward the parts I don't want to hear.
This one was more exciting the last one. I have to admit I love how she has several secrets going on in the books to leads up to the next book. I have to say I love the old man in this story he is such a good laugh. I love the new member like Coop. I do want to see her and Doc go some where and stop letting others get in the way.
When her Aunt tell her about how frantic Doc was to find her and how she he deserves to hear from her. How her aunt tells her she gave up enough in her life that it is time to fight for what she wants and deserve. It was a very heart warming thing to hear.
She did another great job
I hope the 3rd one doesn't make up wait to long. I look forward to it. I love this series.
Again this had humer, murder, mystery, sex, and kept me entertained all of the way thru. I had read some reviews claiming the reader was bad. I liked her. She has a good voice and was able to keep up with the taunts. Now I am ready to listen to the rest. Like.. Now... not good with waiting.
Usually I get tired of hearing a narrator's voice after so long, but this narrator has done so well that I feel like I'm talking to her as she tells me this story! This is the second book in the series I've listened to and I'm so impressed! I will be downloading the third one right now!
The pros of this book are the funny parts and fun characters. The negative for me was that it was filled with swear words and the main character and just about everybody else were always ready for or having sex. I wish there were ratings on books then we could all find the ones we wanted to read. Was never sure about her relationship with her children - she didn't seem mature enough to be raising children. And there was an odd ending where during the final minutes of crazy fighting the "bad guys" the hero was no where to be seen. I kept expecting him to ride in on his white horse but he's not even mentioned for awhile. So for me this was cute and I think the style of humor was fun. The performance was pretty good and that's saying a lot because there were several characters that would have been challenging. The writer seems very talented, it's just not my style.
Drop most of the swear words. I thought funny Violet could have been more creative with her language. There was a lot of stressful situations and although the humor helped I would have written a couple of situations or relationships that worked were positive. Tension is good, just not all the time.
Not really any favorite. The writing was good as far as bringing the characters to life, but maybe that was my problem, I didn't really find characters to care about. They all seemed silly. Performance wise, the way she brought those crazy characters to life was fun to hear.Although the best friend sounded about 12.
I'm a 30-something paranormal, mystery, and humor enthusiast. For me, the main character is the most important part of a book.
I have NO IDEA why I love this series so much, but I've read the whole series (and I actually had to READ the last two AND the shorts) I love Violet, Doc, Harvey, the kids etc… Its a funny, cozy mystery with hints of the paranormal. Its not the best thing every written, but it was very captivating and I devoured the series.
