Publisher's summary

Having endured a grueling voyage from the British Islands, Mariam arrives at the Chance brothers' ranch expecting to help her sister care for two children and six men. But Miriam is shocked to learn that her sister has died and her two nieces have been neglected. When the Chance brothers order Miriam to take the next ship back to her home, she digs in her heels. Her place is with her nieces, even if that reduces her chances of marriage to about one in a million. As the months pass, though, will Miriam come to believe that maybe one Chance is all she needs?

Too short, disappointing

I was disappointment by this book after reading several of the author's other books. I felt like we missed out on a lot of the story.

I love Cathy Marie Hake's work!

Cathy Marie Hake has several wonderful series of books about the love stories of couples within a town. Each series is about a different place. I always love her work! This was not one of my favorites, but I don't know how much listening instead of reading influenced my opinion. I enjoyed hearing her illustrate it in the voices she imagined as she wrote!

Sweet

I enjoyed the calming narrator and sweet story. This is a light romance for a quick read.

About Patience

This is a nicely done story about patience and tenacity while waiting for the Lord's guidance. I enjoyed hearing the author's voice because I felt I was getting a true interpretation of her intent. If I were to change anything at all, I think that I might have put a slightly different spin on the sound of the male teen voices. I read a couple of the "Chance" books quite a while back but never did the whole series. This inspires me to get all of them and read them in sequence.

Very nice all around

This is a nice clean story, but one not so sterilized you can't see the mutual attraction between the couple. I liked all of the characters, even Daniel. The narrator did a good job.

Excellent Read

This was an enjoyable story. I was surprised by what a good job the author did on the reading. One reviewer said it was difficult to distinguish which of the men were speaking in some parts but that did not present too much of a problem for me.

Happy I took that "one chance in a million".

One Chance in a Million was one of the best Christian books I've read. The author did an excellent job reading her own book. Books read by authors are 50-50 getting a good read. I'm tired of Amish books and I'm very happy to find this author...no cursing or sex This book particularly kept me entertained, happy I was reading it and interested in all the characters lives. I did and I didn't want to listen to it all at once because I didn't want the character's story to come to an end. A very good book.

good story but....

I enjoyed the story but the author did a better job of writing the story than she did as the narrator. Her voices for the men and Polly took a lot away from the story. It was hard to picture a handsome romantic lead in my mind when what I heard was barney fife or chester from marshall dillon. The voice she used for Polly sounded like a whiney brat. I think it would have sounded much better if a man had read the story.
