Publisher's summary

Welcome to the irresistible world of E. Lynn Harris....

He is a devilish and handsome ex-football player, now a rising sports agent at one of the hottest firms in the country. Irrepressible and dangerously alluring, John "Basil" Henderson has a history with women (and a few men). Basil is the consummate guy's guy: a commitment-phobe gadfly known for a double-edged magnetism that has the ability to thrill - and wound.

She is the uncompromising Yancey Harrington Braxton, an up-and-coming Broadway star who oozes charm and bleeds ambition. Young, beautiful, and dangerously crafty, Yancey is prepared to do whatever she must to get what she wants. A femme fatale who has left more than a few brokenhearted men in her wake, Yancey is intrigued and besotted by Basil.

Both believe that in each other they've finally met their match. A lavish wedding is planned, and the ultimate power couple plans to spend their lives in holy matrimony. But just before the nuptials, fate and a little comeuppance from the past threaten the happy couple's future.

Masterful storyteller E. Lynn Harris takes the listener on a delicious ride into the mischievous lives of two very unforgettable characters.

Not a day goes by

This was an awesome story. I think I liked the tangled web that was being weaved as the story went on. I couldn't turn my player off! I had to get in the shower with my player under my shower cap!!!

I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.

Superb Storytelling

E. Lynn Harris certainly has a way with telling a story. That's a big plus. Unfortunately, what he doesn't have is big, too. And that is a way with words. Harris has the habit of repeating certain catch phrases and dialog idioms. Many times different characters "speak" in the same way using the same words. It's difficult to distinguish one character from another because of that deficiency, and the narrator, certainly an accomplished Broadway actor, doesn't shade the characters and make them unique individuals. However, let's not quibble because I really enjoyed this tale of a man and woman, both very unlikeable, who, because of circumstances, come to be much better people. I liked the locales, the characters and the situations in which they find themselves. Very entertaining, and I will definitely listen to his other books carried here on audible.com.

Trash..

Don't bother unless you enjoy books with shallow foul mouth characters, details of bisexual escapades and stories with no plot or point...

will this be the biggest wedding

John "Basil" Henderson a handsome ex-football player and now a rising sports agent is engaged to an upcoming broadway star Yancey Harrington Braxton who is not only beautiful but also dangerous, she is willing to do whatever she wants to get what she wants. And on this day which should have been their biggest special day Basil tells Yancey that he can't marry her. these two seem like a match made in heaven and they seem like the power couple that can not be broken. this book starts out with Basil breaking off the wedding but then it goes into the past telling us all the devilish acts and the secrets that led up to this decision. With Basil we learn about his past and how he is battling with being attracted to both men and women and he is very determined to keep that a secret but also get married and have children, but when he realizes that Yancey has a few secrets of her own with her college love he is horrified, learning that Yancey had a child and didn't want her child and then that she can't have any kids was a deal breaker for him, now he has to decide if he really loves Yancey or if he needs to take time for himself and deal with his emotions. When yancey discovers Basil's other side she is horrified but quickly thinks of a scheme to try and still marry Basil but then blackmale him and divorce him and claim all his riches that he has from his agency. What unfolds will have you on the edge of your seat and sucked into this book.

Great start to a series!

I kind of listened to this out of order, but it’s good to hear the Yancey and Basil story. Can wait for the next!
