Cormac McCarthy is considered one of America's greatest living writers. His epic novel No Country for Old Men, released in 2005, traces the violent consequences of a single decision that soon spirals horribly out of control
This is the dark but striking story of Llewelyn Moss, who goes on the run after being tempted by the bounty of a drug deal gone awry. A thrilling sequence of events ensues as a ruthless hitman and benevolent sheriff trail him in a nail-biting and suspenseful chase that will decide Moss's fate one way or another
The novel was recently made into a critically acclaimed film by the Coen brothers, winning four Academy Awards. This is the third Cormac McCarthy novel to be released by Naxos AudioBooks this year.

"While the action of the novel thrills, it's the sensitivity and wisdom of Sheriff Bell that makes the book a profound meditation on the battle between good and evil and the roles choice and chance play in the shaping of a life." (Publishers Weekly)
From Audible, probably 3 or 4
Most definitely. It was so different to anything I have ever listened to and I couldn't wait to hear where the author would take us next!
The Sheriff. How honourable can one get?
An extremely deep story. Had to back track a number of times to make certain that I understood exactly what was transpiring. Very clever.
Be more clear? Maybe the Unabridged version would have been a better choice.
Saw it, did not enjoy it
this is just like the film with a bit more dialogue from the narrator. If you loved the movie, you will love the book.
I read some reviews that it wasn't one to listen to idly; that you'll miss the story. Boy, that's an understatement. The reader sounds like HE'S about to fall asleep during the short story, and it was over before anything happened. Makes me wonder how the movie is...
I'm now listening to 50 Shades of Gray with the wife. Not really any better.
dunno, couldn't get engaged in the story enough to tell.
I'd pass this one over for something more engaging unless you're going to be listening closely- but who does that? The whole point of listening to an audible book is to multi-task!!
Not a book to listen to while doing "thoughtful" stuff. I think I missed some of the subtleties of plot. The story was deep and detailed and I found myself holding my breath more than a few times as the protagonists made there way through the tale.
I liked the narration, it felt "right" for the story.
The violence was quite shocking but not described gratuitously.
