Publisher's summary

For 18 years, Jude Farraday has put her children’s needs above her own, and it shows - her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable.

Jude does everything to keep her kids on track for college and out of harm’s way. It has always been easy - until senior year of high school. Suddenly she is at a loss. Nothing feels safe anymore; every time Mia and Zach leave the house, she worries about them. On a hot summer’s night her worst fears are realized. One decision will change the course of their lives. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget... or the courage to forgive.Vivid, universal, and emotionally complex, Night Road raises profound questions about motherhood, identity, love, and forgiveness. It is a luminous, heartbreaking novel that captures both the exquisite pain of loss and the stunning power of hope. This is Kristin Hannah at her very best, telling an unforgettable story about the longing for family, the resilience of the human heart, and the courage it takes to forgive the people we love.

Written with genuine emotion.

This book is written with great emotion regarding the loss of a child. The many stages of grief and live are all reflected, by all characters.

Great Book!!!!

This book is amazing. It carries from the first word to the last wondering what is going to happen next. Several times I had tears in my eyes because I felt for the people in the story.

Memorable moment is when they all became a family again and remembering what was good despite the tragedy that had taken place.

Don't read the reviews

They give away half the book even when they don't mean to. It's good. Just listen to it.

Great read!

Lexii is a child that has been let down by so many including her drug addict mother and the foster care system. When she finally finds a loving home with her aunt, her world changes. She has stability, she meets friends and has a boyfriend and their family accepts her as their own. She’s looking forward to graduation and college. Her world is turned upside down when tragedy hits and she looses this and so much more in an instant. Her world is shattered as well as her friend’s family. Grab the tissue, this one will pull at your heartstrings in so many ways.

Long but worth it

I enjoyed this book although I think it could have been edited down to not be so long as there was a bit of unnecessary repetition. It was like, “Yeah, yeah, I get your point. Now let’s get on with it!” The narration was excellent. Some of the story was a bit hard to swallow, but I still kept coming back.
