Publisher's summary

The ties between women can run as deep as the ocean-but so can the secrets.

For 20 years, Kayla, Antoinette and Val have performed their own special summer ritual. Once a year, the old friends put aside their daily, separate lives to drink champagne, swap stories and swim naked under the Nantucket stars. But on one of those bonding nights, one of their trio swims out from the shore and doesn't return. After the surviving friends emerge from their grief, they realize that the repercussions of their loss go far beyond their little circle, and they begin to uncover layers of secrets—and their connections to each other—that were never revealed on the beach. What has made their friendship strong now has the power to destroy—their marriages, families, even themselves, in Elin Hilderbrand's Nantucket Nights.

“Things get more twisted at every turn with enough lies and betrayals to fuel a whole season of soap operas...readers will be hooked.” —Publishers Weekly

“What a perfect summer pleasure Elin Hilderbrand provides in Nantucket Nights, mixing the complexities of family life and friendship with suspense, romance, and moonlit Nantucket nights.” —Nancy Thayer, author of Custody

“Ms. Hilderbrand paints a picture of idyllic Nantucket life that slowly starts to unravel as the ugly underbelly is revealed. Hidden secrets, a mysterious disappearance, and the pain of betrayal form the basis for this haunting read.” —Romantic Times

True life delimas

I liked the fact that the story was about imperfect, selfish and at times down right mean people, this was not a pretty fairy tail tied up with a bow, and if you are human and live on planet earth you should be able to relate, it touched a lot of emotions, mad, sad, outraged and disgusted, but haven't we all felt that way about people in our lives or on behalf of someone going through drama. What I didn't care for is the narrator's voice adaption for Antoinette, she made her sound like Isaac Hayes

Thriller

This story has a thriller in the story. It’s a little different than Elin’s other work.

Excellent story line in beautiful Nantucket!

Would you listen to Nantucket Nights again? Why?

Definitely because I couldn't put it down and the second time around I find things I have missed or forgotten. It's actually a fascinating read of many twist and turns in relationships and friendships which totally held my interest.

I began reading Elin Hildebrand a few weeks ago now I find myself searching and reading all her books. Her descriptions in scenery want me to live on Nantucket Island.

What other book might you compare Nantucket Nights to and why?

Scenery wise I thing The Blue Bistro and the same for relationships though I found the Blue Bistro lighter reading.

Which character – as performed by Christina Delaine – was your favorite?

I had no favorite characters; each had their own role and place.Christine Delaine is an amazing narrator! Each charge tour is distinct especially well done in Antoinette!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending..it was a great ending and still allows for a sequel.

Any additional comments?

I am enchanted with this author! Elin does a beautiful job of creating characters of reality and she has a way of making me fall into the book becoming a part of it. It's easy reading or listening and "most" of all she gets my attention in the 1st chapter that I find to be an excellent author!

Different

Hmm! Idk. A lot of craziness to me. It seemed EVERYONE was just doing things impulsively. I wanted more but understand some writers leave us to draw our on conclusions (like it or not).

Best Audible Reader to date - Another amazing story from Elin Hildebrand

My daughter got me back into reading again. I read Elin’s book one after another years ago, then got too busy to slow down.

Now, thanks to Audible, a work commute and desk job. I’m back at Nantucket with her. I’m a beach girl by heart but, live far from it. Elin always takes me back.

This was from first Audible book of hers. (I’ve listened to other books for years, none fictional or fun).

Anyway, I loved this reader/narrator, Christina Delaine. I hope and pray already, as I’m about to start a second book that it’s her again. The narrator was amazing changing her voice by characters etc.

I also bought paperbacks, on sale at Amazon and pre-ordered her next.

Tough read!

As many people have already said, this was tough to listen to! The characters were hard to like or invest in.

Many things were made to be mysterious, but ended up being nothing. I find it hard to believe that anyone would actually say/do the things that happened.

SPOILER ALERT****
Would you really agree to lose a relationship with your grandchild & to not tell your son that his child is alive?
