    "Something for everyone"

With a huge number of short mysteries there is bound to be something in here for everyone. I admit some of them were a miss for me, but many of them were really great and took the idea and ran with it.

I enjoy a good mystery story but for some reason I did not care for these stories just not my taste for mystery I guess.

I couldn't get through the book. I found one story bearable but really disliked the book as a whole. Not worth the price of purchase. Stories were vastly different and the one characteristic that was supposed to follow through all the stories was not really there.

    "Missed the mark"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Better choice of stories

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Didn't find a favorite. Honestly after the fourth story I gave up

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    I liked the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

I can't pick a winner every time. Just not my cup of tea.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disappointment

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste your time, not a single good story. Most of them seemed unfinished with no real ending.

What would have made Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box better?

Maybe try including more actual mysteries, like the title suggests. It sees like there were several titles that were suspenseful and engaging, bookending a bunch of what could only be described as filler.

What could Brad Meltzer (editor) have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    See previous answer.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

    Sure. The performances weren't terrible.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Several of the stories weren't bad.

    Any additional comments?

Far and away the worst audio book I have ever heard. Avoid.

    "Not the best"
Would you try another book from Brad Meltzer (editor) and/or the narrators?

Like Brad Meltzer but this compilation wasn't as good as most of the Mystery Writers selections. Disappointing.

Would you recommend Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not. Just not that entertaining,

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

With this much variety, there were some really good and some not so much!

Was Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box worth the listening time?

    Maybe

    Any additional comments?

The compilations I have read before have been great! This one was kind of blah.

    "Great potential that failed."
Would you try another book from Brad Meltzer (editor) and/or the narrators?

    Some authors yes others no.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Some of the stories I couldn't even get through they were so boring and left me wondering what they had to do with a box or a mystery. I think he should have had the authors stick with an actual box as those stories provided real mystery.

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?

Anything with Scott Brink I love.

Do you think Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Only if they stick with an actual box in the story line.

    Any additional comments?

I really expected so much more out of this. I don't think all of the authors took the time to write an actual mystery. The main author gave them way to much leeway and that in my opinion gave the authors a way out of writing as the title suggested Mystery Box.
