It is the dawn of the 18th century. At the farthest edges of the known world, the mighty Honourable East India Company suffers near-catastrophic losses from pirates on the high seas.
After four years away from service, master mariner Sir Henry Courtney prepares for his latest and most dangerous voyage: a death or glory mission in the name of Empire and the Crown.
But Hal must also think about the fate of his four sons, who are all very different. But each will have a crucial part to play in shaping the family's destiny. Separated by the winds of hazard, adventure will rule their future, just as passion will forge their lives.

"Once again the veteran author creates a masterful tale of action and suspense set on the high seas, arid deserts, and steaming jungles....Clever plot twists and lavish historical detail attend the siblings' adventures as they battle pirates, slavers, assassins, their own government, and each other." (Publishers Weekly)

"Absolute waste of money"
There are few people in this world that enjoy Wilbur's books more than I but this is absolutely terrible.
"Abridged" should be replaced with "Chopped into three dozen pieces and you only get 1 of them to listen to"
"It's not the whole book"
Loads of sections are missing from the story, missing all of Dorians experiences between getting taken to meeting Tom again
"A well read abridged version"
A very good story. One of his best works showing his African upbringing and understanding.
