superb work

It is by far the best book I've listened this year. I had read some of his work before but I hadn't find anything remarkable untill I discovered Mister Pip. deep and funny, this book reveals the richness and magic of a world that the Western side sometimes fails to appreciate. Also, Susan's great performance successfully recounts this wonderful world.

A beautiful book

I have only ever written a review once before and that was to express my anger and having my time wasted. This is nothing like that.

This book is beautifully written and transported me into a time and culture I was not familiar with. The narration as superb.

This is 100% worth the time to listen.

Great narrator, great story!

This is one of the best books I have listened to in the 3 odd years I have been regularly downloading books. If you liked Alexander McCall Smith's books (44 Scotland Street, The No. 1 Lady's Detective Agency) or Neil Gorman's Anansi Boys, you will like this book. The narrator's unique voice completely draws you into the story, and into a different country and culture allowing you to feel the heat, sandy beaches and sunlight of her tropical homeland while at the same time the plot of the story underscores the ways in which differences in countries, historial eras or culture really don't matter, because we all share the same basic human joys, concerns and fears. Not to be missed.

Unique Story

This was different, and I enjoyed it. I listed on audio, and the narrator did a good job. I enjoyed learning a bit about the culture of the island, and it was interesting how the author tied the enjoyment of a good book to escaping into a different world and feeling like you have a friend. I have to confess that I have not read Great Expectations, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of this novel. Maybe I will add that to my already groaning TBR shelf!
