Publisher's summary

First in a new trilogy

From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale - populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It' s a pretty standard dried-up western town. There' s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There' s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there' s new resident, Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he' s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth....

Quirky fun. Great for Charlaine Harris fans.

Enjoyed the reappearance of characters features in the Lily Bard series (Bobo Hamilton), the Harper Connelly series (Manfred Bernardo) and her Aurora Teagarden series (Arthur Smith).

Very much appreciate her use of the english language for long-retired words and phrasing, as well as the honesty of her characters emotions.

A Slow Build

Another great novel by Charmaine Harris. Not so complicated that you get lost if you zone out for a couple of minute but not a novel for children either. She does a great job of pulling you into her universe. Good example of descriptive story telling

Just ok - slow going

This was a slow going book. I continued based upon listener reviews and came away with just a "meh". Feeling about it.

Cast of characters

This was a interesting book it could of went far except it didn't. The characters we normal than they weren't. It's almost like the author needed more excitement so she threw in a cast of characters that didn't have any supernatural "issues" then they did. It was confusing and spotty. It didn't flow well.

Loved this book

Charlene Harris does it again. Great characters and storyline. I only wish that there were more than 3 books. That’s just not enough for Midnight, Texas.
Mr Snugly cracks me up. He needs his own book!

I loved it!

I thought it was a great book. Character development was spot on and interesting. Susan Bennett is my absolute favorite voice actress she has a way of bringing the characters to life. I especially lover her valley girl voice that she has used in several different books. Can't wait to get to the next book
