IMMEDIATELY HOOKED... WANTED MORE!

Excellent novella! I enjoyed the plot line, and unfortunately when the action got started the book was over. :( I knew this was a short one, and didn’t realize how much it would disappoint me to have it end so quickly. I have to stick with the full length Ledger’s to get my fill. Capt. Ledger is just such an exciting, multidimensional character, and I revel in his hilarious, dry humored, ( often) cutting remarks, as well as the supercharged exploits with his Echo Team Posse, where Ghost always rules as #Top Dog!

No spoiler alerts here. . . (tired of being redundant, but when every book is amazing, it's kind-of inevitable... Just say'n...:) I loved the super witty, action packed plot Mr. Maberry consistently delivers, and the narration of (yet) another winner, by the much adored, Mr. Porter!

Extending much thanks for the innumerable hours of enjoyment you both have provided over the years!

I may have to read Pine Deep

What did you love best about Material Witness?

I love the fact that all of these "Joe Ledger" stories blend. I actually had to go back and write a timeline, including all of the shorts, so I could better follow everything. Material Witness happens early in the series. Follows Zero Tolerance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is always Joe. Does anyone say anything else?

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved me? Not emotionally in the way you'd think. Creeped me out? Yeah, Jonathan did that to me in this one.

This story answers a lingering question...

Where does Material Witness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this short story about Ledger because it brought a dangling thread from "Patient Zero" in for a snip, and did it in in a fast moving and descriptive way. It also tried to develop a few more team members for Joe's team. Alas...

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I should have anticipated the ending, but I didn't. The end leaves a cliffhanger that is hopefully taken up in one of the many later novels that I look forward to listening to.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ray Porter's performance has developed the character of Joe Ledger nearly as much as Johnathan Mayberry. His performance is consistent with each character and I am attached to his characterizations after only two books and a short story.

it caught my attention

it started off confusing for me as I didn't know what was really going on but quickly explained and the ending was a great hook. I am looking forward to the main event !

Loved it!!

True to Jonathan Maberry's style of writing, this short story is gripping and doesn't let you forget it. I was super excited to see my favorite series, the Pine Deep trilogy and Joe Ledger series meet. I was not disappointed at all. The creepy of Pine Deep meeting the action of Echo team from the Joe Ledger series made for an exciting story. The only downside was the fact it wasn't an entire book!! Overall, it was confirmation on why Maberry is hands down my favorite author. Also, Ray Porter's narration was awesome. He actually sounded like I would expect Joe Ledger to sound. Worth every penny and then some.
