Publisher's summary

In This Heart of Mine, you met Kevin Tucker. Now meet Kevin's shark of an agent...and Annabelle Granger, the girl least likely to succeed.

Annabelle is tired of being the lone failure in a family of overachievers. She's endured dead-end jobs and a broken engagement. But that's going to change now that she's taken over her late grandmother's matchmaking business. All Annabelle has to do is land the Windy City's hottest bachelor as her client, and she'll be the most sought-after matchmaker in town.

With his money-green eyes and calculated charm, Heath Champion is the best sports agent in the country. He's wealthy, driven, and gorgeous, so why does he need a matchmaker, especially a red-haired screw-up like Annabelle Granger? True, she's entertaining, and she does have a certain quirky appeal. But Heath is searching for the ultimate symbol of his success: the perfect wife. And to make an extraordinary match, he needs an extraordinary matchmaker, right?

If Annabelle isn't careful, she just might find herself going heart-to-heart with the toughest negotiator in town, a man who's beginning to ask himself...exactly how perfect does perfect have to be?

Still laughing...

I have listened to three SEP books and this is still my favorite, likely because Annabelle is my favorite heroine. She's funny, witty and irreverent. The narrator seems to key into her really well.

There are some fall-down funny moments in this book that you will want to hear again and again.

I also love the little "bonus" romances in SEP's books. Once you've read some of her stuff you will know what I mean.

Great Book, Terrible Reader

The story was somewhat predictable and I had a hard time liking the love interest. Yet, there was charm and fun to it.

The reader on the other hand, horrible male voices, ear screeching childrens voices (not remotely age appropriate).

This one would be far better to pick up in hard copy.

An oldie but a goodie!

Any additional comments?

No one does it better than Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Sometimes you're just in the mood for a sweet old fashioned, love story. This is it.
The only reason I gave the narrator 4 stars is that she's just a little over used. I've listened to so many books with her voice that they all start sounding the same. I know that's not fair, how many narrators are available after all, but it just get tiring hearing the same voice for every character. She's great at what she does though.

My Favorite

This is my favorite SEP book & I’ve read it many times. The narration of male characters wasn’t what I hoped for - Heath was just tolerable & Bodie was a flat out fail, but overall it didn’t impact my enjoyment that much.

The Redhead Gets the Guy

First of all, Annabelle's hatred of her red hair reminded me of my favorite book in childhood, Anne of Green Gables :) Okay, that aside this was definitely a signature SEP novel. The main characters are flawed but loveable, and there was a sub-plot love story which seemed to mirror that of the protagonists. All of the characters come to the table with a whole slew of personal issues they have to muddle through and overcome in order to find and accept true love.

Annabelle is the quintessential baby of the family. She's sweet and smart, but hasn't always had the head-strong direction/ambition of her older brothers. And to her great annoyance, she is her mother's main focus. She may be my favorite character in an SEP book b/s she's so easy to understand. Annabelle wants to do well in life, and eventually will, but it's just taking her a bit longer to find her footing. When she meets the viper, Heath Champion, he seems to be everything she's not and the exact opposite of what he believes to be the perfect wife. But of course Annabelle is exactly what he needs. And in the end, he realizes that she's exactly what he wants. The chemistry between these two jumps off the page. And their thoughts/conversations are witty, funny, emotional, and endearing.

The secondary cast of characters was wonderful. There were: adorable kids, funny jocks, meddling family members, overprotective friends, and a hilarious collection clients--especially one elderly gentlemen whose repeat appearances will make you laugh out loud. As usual, Anna Fields' narration was spot on. Her narration only added to the book's charm.
