Thirty days. That's all Adam Steinbeck demands of his wife. Thirty days in a remote cottage, doing everything he demands. After that, he'll sign her divorce papers and give her their company.
That's how long he has to rediscover the man he once was. The dominant master he hid when he fell in love with her five years before.
She wants their production company badly enough to go to the cottage for a month. Cut off ties to the world and do his bidding. She can submit to him with her body, but her heart will never yield.
She thinks this is his pathetic attempt to repair their marriage.

WOW!!! I loved this book! I really liked how it goes back and forth between "then and now", it helped me get a better understanding of the characters. Adam might be my new favorite Dom, He is so calm even when things are freaking him out, that makes him super sexy to me because I love a Dom that is always in control (even of himself). From the beginning this book grabbed me and now I can't stop thinking about it! And it was hot hot hot!!
I love that they are married when the story starts, that is huge for me because I felt their connection from page 1. The author does an awesome job writing these characters and their story, you will love them both even if you try not too. I wanted to dislike Diana in the beginning because of "the note", I wanted to dislike Adam because he hid who he was from his wife which to me is lying but I didn't stand a chance against either of them. I am so sad that I have to wait until January 3rd for the next book :'( Yes this book has a cliffhanger but it's not a mid sentence cliffy at least.
The narration was perfect!!!
I first met CD Reiss through the Songs of Submission audios narrated by the incredible Jo Raylan and Christian Fox and I was blown away, luckily able to buy the whole series one after another. I devoured them even though they weren't in my regular wheelhouse for romance audio (with BDSM and intense emotions (eek)). I listened to most of CD's other audios and they were very good, but none had the impact of Songs of Submission...until now.
Marriage Games hits all the notes. A marriage in trouble, not due to unfaithfulness to their marriage but to themselves. The struggle between Adam and Diana is palpable and relatable. There are moments you want them together and apart, the pain and past between them sometime seeming insurmountable.Yes, this book contains BDSM but as usual with CD, it's not the entire story. Many stories about the "lifestyle" are about the shock value and primarily porn, which is fine if that's what you like. CD makes it a very relatable human issue about consenting adults finding what fulfills them from their very core without judgment.
The narration? Absolutely perfect. Two of my favorite narrators performing duet (or conversational) narration. Elena Wolfe's performance is flawless as usual and she makes Diana relatable, fragile and sympathetic as well as strong and fearless. You feel her struggle in every word. Sebastian York, my favorite alpha male narrator, has cornered the market on loving dominants with this book. When he says "get on your hands and knees" you want to just do it, thankfully. But the softness and love he brings to Adam just sends this performance over the top.
Is it a cliffhanger? Yes. Does that usually stop me? Yes. Adam and Diana's story is complicated and this cliffhanger is mild and worth every moment of it. I can't wait for Separation Games and to relisten to Marriage Games as well. Give them the Audie now!!
CD Reiss's screenwriting experience is such a breath of fresh air in this genre. I loved the alternating timeline of the storytelling and the descriptive language made it so easy to visualize ... yummm!
I completely fell in love with the protagonists, Adam and Diana, through the personal details like naming their daughter before she was even conceived. The fact that they are married as the story begins proves that the Dom-Sub relationship they eventually develop is beyond physical. Poor Adam... typical man in denial.
On a side note, I felt that Diana's character was pretty flat at the beginning, mostly because Adam had most of the narration in the beginning of the book. Will this flip in the next one? Can't wait to find out!

In 30 days… The Audible version is narrated by the always extraordinary Elena Wolfe and I
Believe this is with no qualification one of Sebastian York’s best performances EVER. A MUST read book and an Absolutely even better one to listen to. Can’t wait for Book 2.
I loved this story, these narrators are the absolute best, I have a lot of books that are read by these two and they make every story come to life. The story itself was awesome, I cannot wait to read book 2.
This book grabbed me from the first words. I loved how you saw deep into the souls of the characters, what torments them, what drives them, who they really are. I loved that so much of the story is from Adam's perspective. The story lays both of them bare and vulnerable, giving you things you like about them and things you don't. The erotic parts are hot and really ring true to who the characters are and their struggles. I wish it was hours longer. Waiting until January to get the next one will not be easy.
I’m going to forego my usual attempt to sum a book up into a neat little box. Marriage Games refuses to conform to those constraints. The storytelling is complex. The characters are complex. But most important, it elicits complex feelings. I’m still reeling. I was actually speechless after reading this book. I needed a drink, a Xanax, and a deep tissue massage when I finished it. That’s how invested I was in this narrative! Major feelings were felt peeps! I was completely slayed!
Some of my favorite GR buddies posted awesome reviews of Marriage Games, so I was super-excited to dive into this one.
I’ve been on an Audible kick lately, so I decided to listen vs. read. My excitement increased exponentially once I checked audible and realized Sebastian York is the audiobook narrator. Cuz...yum!
I would definitely recommend the audio version. It took me a little time to get used to the duet narration, but it eventually grew on me. York was fantastic as always!
The story itself is very intriguing. It felt like listening to my friends detail their marriage struggles. However, the execution did trip me up a bit. I'm not a fan of back and forth timelines. I had to focus way too hard to keep up with the present vs. past tense narrative. I also felt it got a little wordy at times - like an introduction manual to BDSM. I stayed up super late to finish, so that was a bit of a struggle. Other than those issues, I was thoroughly impressed!!
Now for the whammy!! The end totally SLAYED. I saw it coming, but still couldn't protect my heart. I have no words. Well maybe a few, but I'm trying to keep this review clean. So needless to say, I'll be anxiously awaiting Separation Games. Until Jan 11th...
I'm an avid audiobook fan reading contemporary, romance, YA, PNR, fantasy and sci-fi. I review for Jo&IsaLoveBooks Blog.
This was one of the best audios I've listened to in the romance genre. The two narrators were superb but not only that, this book is mainly made up of dialogue and instead of being POV narration-driven, dialogue was dual narrated. This enhanced everything about this book.
Adam started out as the wronged, hurt husband, gaining my sympathy quickly despite knowing his past. Let's put it this way, I'm not in his fan club right now, but there's a part of me still rooting for him. I really couldn't quite get the measure of Diana initially and didn't understand her decisions. What progresses between these two is like a runaway train, but they're both convinced they're in control. I enjoyed this story and the characters hugely. I am an anti-Dom/sub fan, so the fact I loved this so much speaks of the author's talent. I am waiting with bated breath for next book and conclusion to this compelling story.

"major cliff hanger"
Good book, liked the characters and how mixed up they both were.
Did not like the cliff hanger and having to wait for the book to be released!!

Wow what a well written and exceptionally well narrated story. Went through so many emotions while listening, shock, anger and sadness. Great cliff hanger, can't wait to see what happens next.
"This is the most amazing Performance!"
Sizzling, sexy, heartbreaking
I think the way the performers interacted within different chapters. It was like you was in the room with them. Very intimate/.
I can't praise Sebastian York's high enough, as he did the bulk of the work. This is the first time I've listened to Elena Wolfe, and I enjoyed her performance.
I had it on all day with earphones, it made the performance very intimate.
This was an amazing and intimate performance, and I have to wait until Jan for the 2nd half.
"Loved this one!"
An unusual take on the typical DS novel. Well constructed characters for the genre.
Excellent narrators which bring the book to life.
Can't wait for the second part!
