Publisher's summary

Anyone who frequents Collars & Cuffs knows Dorian Forrester is built for pain, including Dorian himself. But everyone has it wrong. For six years, Dorian's chased a feeling that remains tantalizingly out of his reach. Unteachable, Dorian can take anything and everything a Dom can throw at him. Still, it's not enough. Dorian needs...something more, something he won't find at Collars & Cuffs.

Dorian's search takes him out of the safe environment he's known for years, out of his depth, and into a realm of deep, dark trouble.

Alan Marchant has been watching Dorian with interest for a while and knows there's more to Dorian than his label of "pain slut" suggests. When Dorian disappears, Alan and his friend, Leo, set out to find him. But the disoriented young man discovered cowering in a hotel room is not the Dorian they know and love. That Dorian is shattered. It's up to Alan to pick up the pieces and show Dorian there are better ways to fly.

They may be off on a new journey together, but their destination will rock them both to the core.

Great

I've been waiting for a novel surrounding Dorian sense book 1 and this did not disappoint. I even enjoyed the performance which honest drove me a bit crazy in other books. I think this is my favorite in the series.

Dorian and Allen's story

The book starts with Dorian unhappy with his lot in life as he sees all his friends around him coupling up. He begins to think something is wrong with him and searches for a way to become fulfilled. He's gone to all the limits he can at "collars and cuffs" so he decides to go to a different club in Berlin to try something new. If things go very badly and he winds up getting into some trouble with some unsavory characters. Allen and Leo end up going to Berlin to search for Dorian when they realize he may be in trouble and they find him badly beaten and Allen in particular decides he wants to take care of Dorian and nurse him back to health.
Allen ends up taking Dorian back to his place and proceeds to care for him and help him with his physical and psychological recuperation. Throughout this process Allen comes to really care for Dorian and as Dorian opens up to him they decide to try A contract with each other. The two men both learn to trust and respect each other and we find out that Allen also has some baggage from his past which needs to be dealt with. Dorian has a keen sense of what Allen needs just as Allen seems to know what Dorian needs. Together they must overcome their personal demons and with the help of some of their friends who we have met in earlier books in this series it makes for a great story. Up to this book my favorite one was "Trusting Thomas" but I would have to save this one is probably my second favorite. Nick J Russo does a great job of narrating the audible version.

Scorching

this is one of the first times i'v read books featuring BDSM and I must say that out of all the ones I've read so far this book has touched me more than any other i'v read. A true work of art. With ever chapter I was drown in more and more. I love the characters. It is a MUST read for anyone who are curious about BDSM. I find this series becoming one of my favorites very fast.

Great story !!!! Highly recommended!!!

Any additional comments?

In the previous books in the series Dorian is portrayed as an unpopular sub, but in this story we discover his true nature and motives. Alan is perfect for him, and expertly handles Dorian, guiding him as his Dom and his lover in his own unique way. Their developing relationship and connection is beautifully shown though various scenes, sexual and otherwise. These two characters come across as genuine and believable, and the reader is taken on a heartfelt journey as the two men get to know each other and realize what is important to them. They each confront tragic events from the past and together they overcome all the emotional and negative baggage. The scenes in the Collars and Cuff club are superbly written and were perfect for the story and the characters.
Based on the title, Make Me Soar, I expected K.C. to delve into really weird kink in order for the main character to achieve his goal of reaching subspace and especially as he was known as a "pain slut". K.C. wonderfully shows through Dorian and Alan's relationship that it's not all leather, whips, chains and ball gags.

Good book. Worth a credit.

Some reviews are easy, and some listens leave me feeling but struggling to translate that into words. This book is the second kind.

I enjoyed it. A lot.
It was different.
It was well-written.
The narration was so good.
I will definitely look for more K C Wells.

Nick Russo. Wow! He slips in and out of so many accents with such apparent ease and fluidity. Best voice performance I’ve heard in a while.

The best if the series so far!

This story shines a spotlight on Dorian, who has kinda gotten a bad rap through the series. The plot is refreshing and unique, full of pain to overcome, transformations, praise and love. Master Alan is so different than the other Doms- he sees through the walls Dorian has built and the masks he wears. Master Alan uses emotional and psychological tactics rather than what Dorian is used to in order to help him fly. The last few books in this series left me wanting a better storyline, and this one brings it!

Outstanding Story & Listen🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!

K.C. Wells delivers another outstanding novel in her “Collars & Cuffs” series. I am loving this series and the characters. I also love the camaraderie amongst some of the members of the club, it is like a tight knit community. Each book features a different couple but you see reappearances of characters from earlier books, which is a great thing. This book is Dorian Forrester and Alan Marchant’s story, Dorian is a submissive at the club, he is known for allowing his Dom to take him to the max of pain during a scene. He has been a member of the club for sometime now and he sees how other Dom/sub’s are pairing up, he is wondering what is wrong with him, why no one wants a permanent relationship with him. He thinks it is time to look into other clubs and on a whim decides to go check out one he heard about. Others at the club noticed Dorian’s absence and Club Master Leo and Alan decide to go and track him down. When they find him, Dorian is a broken shell of himself. OMG, that scene just ripped my heart out. They get him back home and Alan helps to get Dorian back and help him find what he is looking for, a journey of a new discovery. Alan patience was awesome, he also saw Dorian for who he was. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted, with plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some angst, some hot BDSM scenes and a wonderful romance. It was great to see Dorian’s character grow as he came into himself. Alan was perfect for him and they were great together. K.C. Wells thank you for another awesome story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Nick J. Russo is a fabulous narrator and versatile voice artist. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them. He gives each character their own unique voice which makes it easy to follow the story and who is who. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures the characters emotions, their vulnerabilities which is heard in his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen🎧

Beautiful

I love this book. This is my favorite book from Collars & Cuffs. I really adore the redeemed character theme. Dorian is a minor character from the first book. I was so happy when this book came out. I wished so hard for his happy ending. What happened to Dorian in the first part of the book broke my heart. But I found his and Alan's journey in healing and finding love truly beautiful.

The narrator is one of my favorites. I love listening to his him. His voice really suits the MCs.

I definitely recommend this book, the author and the narrator.

Fantastic, not to be missed!

I would have to say that this is one of my absolute favorites of the Collars and Cuffs series by KC Wells. Dorian just speaks to my heart in a way that no other character does. His story is just beautiful and compelling. I think Nick Russo did an amazing job narrating this one!

Deeply moving hurt/comfort romance with age gap.

Incredibly well-written hurt/comfort romance with age gap. Dorian is the loner in the group at Collars and Cuffs, not the best at friendships or relationships, which already was enough for me to root for him. But then… he takes an ill-advised risk and finds himself in a dangerous, truly horrible situation, driven by his search for something elusive, and that broke my heart. I hated that he felt such hopelessness and sadness before, but in Berlin things got so much worse. I don’t like seeing characters brought so low because I empathize so much, but I do love the road to recovery and the hurt/comfort potential in such stories. The tears are the price I pay for the joy of reading a deeply emotional love story. Make Me Soar is brilliant in that regard. I love Alan’s approach in helping Dorian. He’s a wonderful blend of strength, patience, and gentleness. This is not to say that Alan is perfect or without pain of his own, and Dorian only the wounded little bird. They definitely grow together, learning to trust and communicate, try new things, and fall equally deeply in love. The bdsm-aspect of their relationship is beautifully written and really shows how intimate it can be, and how important the mutual trust is in a D/s dynamic. I think it’s great that Dorian finds a new purpose in his life, and that he learns to value himself more. I love him and Alan. They are one of my favorite couples in this series, right next to Jarod and Eli.

Narration: Nick J. Russo’s performance of Dorian and Alan’s story is excellent. He does a wonderful job with his voices for them, which suit the MC’s perfectly. I like his pacing and the subtle emotions he brings to his narration.
