Publisher's summary

The well-educated daughter of a lawyer, Trudy Bauer, arrives at the St. Louis based Mail-Order Brides of the West agency full of excitement for an adventure of a lifetime. She befriends the agency's maid, Evie Davenport, and the two form a strong and lasting friendship. They vow to stay in contact through letters when Evie takes hold of her destiny and arranges a marriage on the sly. Each brave young woman is ready to face whatever an unknown groom and life in Montana can throw her way.

In Fyffe's Novel, house servant Evie Davenport travels by stagecoach to Y Knot, Montana in a McCutcheon Family Novel. In Holland's book, bride-to-be Trudy Bauer rides the train to Sweetwater Springs, in a Montana Sky Novel. Through their correspondence, the friends keep each other abreast of their hardships, trials and tribulations - some of heartbreak, some of love.

Very nice narration and enjoyable story

Would you consider the audio edition of Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie: McCutcheon Family Series, Book 3 to be better than the print version?

This was a nice story with the writer and reader making it a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon experience. If you want a lot of complex characters, this isn't a book for you. However, if you just want a nice book about nice people in a beautiful area of the country, you can't do much better.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It's a little predictable, but that's OK if you just want a pleasant read without a lot of complexity.

Which scene was your favorite?

The description of the stage coach ride! I would have never survived a ride in one.

Any additional comments?

My great-grandmother was a mail order bride, and I have often wondered how she ever left her home and family to marry a man she didn't know. This book gave a good perspective on how these young women coped with the changes in their lives.

Awesome series!

I decided to read the McCutcheon Family series because a review compared Fyffe's writing style to Catherine Anderson who I love. I have not been disappointed! Caroline paints a picture in your mind, makes you laugh, & causes you to want to know what happens to her beloved characters. I highly recommend this series.....I will read / listen to all of them!

Mail Order Brides of the West: Evie

What made the experience of listening to Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie: McCutcheon Family Series, Book 3 the most enjoyable?

The performance was really good. She distinguished between characters very well. She had a pleasant voice as well. I read so fast and sometimes have to re read paragraphs so having it read to me makes it more "alive" and I don't miss anything.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chance, Evie's husband. He was such a man with lots of humor and much patience for his new wife. He was a strong character with a good heart and was ready at anytime to protect his love.

Have you listened to any of Lara Asmundson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. This is the second one by her I've listened to and I think she did a very good job on this one as well as the first one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

???

Any additional comments?

I've just discovered the Mail Order Brides of the West and can't wait to "read" the others in this series.
